A Pirate’s Life Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions, Kids
This pirate themed party almost threw us overboard! Johanna from Mums Little Party Secret sent us these photos from her son Morgan’s birthday. She and her husband decorated and constructed that pirate ship by hand (amazing!). Johanna also created the cupcakes and cake. After months of construction, the day finally arrived for Capt’n Morgan III’s maiden voyage. Johanna and here husband were fearful of housing the ship outside as storms were predicted. They made the…

This sweet table was sent to us by Melinda of the blog Georgica Pond. She held this party for her daughter’s second birthday at her parent’s country property in the Southern Highlands of NSW. As a former magazine stylist, Melinda definitely has an eye for putting things together. She claims she is…

Colors of the Rainbow Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions, Kids
This sweet little party was sent to us by Virginie at That Cute Little Cake. Virginie fell in love with the idea of the rainbow cake. She decided on a rainbow theme for her daughter’s second birthday so she could make her that cake.  She went with a softer palette switching out the red for pink. With the exception of the rainbow cupcake topper which was a free printable from Tom Kat Studio, Virginie designed…

Under the Big Top Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions, Kids
This part was sent to us by Bird from Bird’s Party. She created this printable collection for her kids’ birthday.  Bird’s children were born on the same day two years apart.  She always finds it challenging to come up with a theme that will work for both age groups and genders. This year’s theme was “Under the Big Top”! For the invitations Bird wanted a “circus is in town poster” kind of look. Included in the…

It is so warm and humid out in NYC  it almost feels like Florida today. So much for tomorrow being the first day of fall! The citrus palette in this feature by Debbie of Sugar Plum Designs fits perfectly with the weather. Debbie created this table for a birthday girl whose favorite colors are orange & green. The table is symmetrical which helps to give a table with lots of color and pattern a refined…

Amy Atlas Moment: Butterflies and Bird Cages

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions, Kids
This sweet Amy Atlas Moment was sent to us by Ryan Aquino.  We LOVE the fact that we finally received a submission from a man!  Ryan is an Art Director and mentioned in his submission that he has “no experience in party planning”. When his sister-in-law asked him for help in planning a butterfly tea party for his sweet little niece, how could he say no? After a little research, he happened upon our dessert…

Be prepared for a party that is soaring new heights of creativity!  This very clever Pan Am feature is timely, as ABC is about to premiere their new show Pan Am. Lynlee of Lynlee’s Petite Cakes created this table for her mother, who worked for Pan Am. Lynlee created a Flight Status Happy Birthday board for the backdrop, and connected the flight theme with props like Pan Am mini luggage bags, airplanes and globes.  …

UP Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions, Kids
We have had so many amazing submissions hit our inbox lately, but this rainbow party brightened up our day! Jacki at Blissfully Sweet Cakes created this party for her son Ben’s birthday. Ben loves balloons. Always has. When he saw the Disney movie UP, he was hooked. Ben’s party was going to be a small family affair so Jacki decided to make a faux house cake (how amazing is that)?  Look at the edible rainbow…

Willy Wonka Inspired Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions, Kids
We fell in love with this post the minute that we saw it. Maybe it was the color palette, the creative use of the cabinet and scrabble pieces, the cake, or the combination of all three.  Either way, we felt like we won the golden ticket when this popped up in our inbox. Vesna from My Little Jedi created this dessert table for her son’s 2nd birthday party. The desserts complemented the color palette of…

Vintage Sewing Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions
This sweet vintage sewing party was created by Jeannie from The Pastry Tip. Jeannie created this party for her sister Susan’s birthday.  While at Goodwill, Jeannie found a great vintage sewing machine. She realized it was the same sewing machine that her grandmother used.  Since Susan loves to sew and crochet, Jeannie knew she had to incorporate the sewing machine into the sweets display.  We love the spool cookies and the detail on the…

Eloise Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions, Kids
We are in love with this Eloise spa-jama party that Catherine at Serendipity Soiree created for her daughter Liberty’s birthday.  When Liberty was asked what kind of party she wanted, she simply replied, “I am six, I love The Plaza, I want an Eloise Party.”  Catherine creatively transformed her home into a hotel. Upon arrival, guests registered at the “hotel” and were given room keys/charge cards with room numbers. The backyard was transformed into a…

There was no clowning around when creating this party.  It was sent to us by Beckie Winston of Two Queen Bees. Tinkerbell Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions, Kids
We are loving everything about this Tinkerbell party that was sent to us by Krista Salmon of Kikis List.  Krista created this party for her daughter’s 3rd birthday.  The Heather Bailey pattern that she used for the backdrop was the inspiration for the color palette for the party. The enchanted Tinkerbell cake is beautiful.  Vibrant garden roses, ranunculus, peonies, viburnum and gerber daisies on tree trunks gave the otherwise kid vibe a sophisticated feel.  Fun…

Mary Poppins Inspired Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions, Kids
Sharnel of My Life My Loves threw a Mary Poppins Tea Party for her daughter Olivia’s 7th birthday (we posted pictures from her 5th birthday party here). The focal point of the party was a fabulous Victorian carousel dessert table Sharnel made with the help of a carpenter.  Isn’t that fabulous?  Atop the table was a pink and blue fondant cake decorated with a carousel horse. We love all of the Mary Poppins elements that…
