Anchor’s aweigh! We are going nautical today with this party that was styled by Belinda from Styled By Belle for a little boy’s first birthday party. The birthday was held at a venue on the water so the nautical theme suited the setting perfectly. Belinda’s client wanted to incorporate the traditional nautical red, white & blue with a touch of gold. Lots of nautical props were used such as fish netting draped over the dessert table, red & white striped oars, as well as a life preserver that was attached to the front of the table. Sweet treats on the dessert table included raspberry life preserver macarons, anchor cupcakes, nautical anchor cookies, navy cake pops, layered jelly pots and a pretty three tiered cake. Great job! Fun Fact: During the Spanish-American War, sailors wore leggings called boots, which then came to mean a Navy or Marine recruit. These recruits trained in “boot” camps. It is said that is the origin for the word boot camp.
