The Day of the Dead {Dia de Los Meurtos} holiday is celebrated this week and we’re loving our reader Katherine Veitschegger’s colorful party for this holiday. The holiday is observed in Mexico and families and friends get together to remember and honor loved ones who have passed away. A common tradition is to have sugar skulls at a Dia de los Muertos celebration so Katherine incorporated a sugar skull cake, as well as sugar skull cupcakes and cookies. Skull glasses were filled with key lime pie mousse and topped with pink sugar. We love how color and pattern were incorporated into the desserts, quilt tablecloth, and milk glass vases with flowers. We think these ideas would be great for a colorful spin on a Halloween party also, right? Scroll down for the vendor credits.
Fun Fact: Candy skulls, Pan de Muerto and marigolds are incorporated into Day of the Dead celebrations.
