Halloween is only a few days away and we love this spooky dinner party by Nikki at Nikki Ikkin. Her party was inspired by Dennison Bogie books. She used fringed paper to mimic the illustrations in the book. Sweet treats included scary black cat and spider web cookies, mummy Oreo pops and a three-tiered Trick-or-Treat cake. Since the dinner party was small, the top two tiers of Nikki’s cake were made of Styrofoam. “Black Magic”…

We’re seeing lots of people incorporating geometric shapes into their dessert tables and parties. Suzanna at Mon Tresor combined color and shapes to create a hole in one for this golf party! The mint, yellow and black palette is gender neutral and we love it! I spoke a lot on the book tour about not only using color to inspire a table, but using shapes as well. You can see that the round shape was…

Waddle over and take a look at this geometric penguin party that was styled by Amanda from Red Wagon Events for her son’s 2nd birthday. We think all of the details are so clever. Children were invited to sit down for “penguin feeding time at 12pm sharp.” After filling up on a finger food lunch, guests were treated to yummy sweets. We can’t get over that cookie igloo made out of iced square cookies. Amazing!…

We are studying the Houndstooth pattern from our pattern board today. From coats to cookies, the broken check always gives a sense of sophistication. We recommend swapping out the traditional black and white houndstooth for muted mustards and taupes for the fall.
