3-2-1 Blast Off Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions, Kids

We received this party from Maria, who styled this party for her aspiring astronaut daughter Olivia’s 5th birthday party. The party was a family affair, with Maria, her husband and the birthday girl painting the balls they used for the solar system backdrop. A starry night table mat that Maria found at a local party shop was the perfect accent for the backdrop. Guests received personalized “astronaut in training” lanyard tags, when they arrived, which had each child’s full name and date of birth as their ID number. Sweet treats on the dessert table included a bright ruffled cake, star sugar cookies, spaceship cupcakes and rock candy. Guests were given an “astronaut recovery kit” when they left. Out of this world! Scroll down for the vendor credits.

With the recent sad passing of Sally Ride, we’re honoring this space post to the legendary woman who broke barriers and became the first American woman in space. Sally founded the Sally Ride Science Academy, which is dedicated to raising students’ interest in science. We hope Olivia continues her love of science and that she will be inspired by Sally’s contribution.

PS – My boys love learning about science. We take them here a lot. What do you do with your kids to get them excited about science?
