Last week was a complete whirlwind. Not only did Sweet Designs hit the shelves, but we also had tv appearances like The Today Show and book signings at Fishs Eddy and Bloomingdales. Stay tuned for information on signings {I’m working out the schedule and balancing it with home life} and another post on the Fishs Eddy event. In the meantime, here are some pictures from the Bloomingdales demo/signing. It was SO great to meet so…

We have always been a big fan of Dr. Seuss books and this Lorax dessert table from Marjaneh at Candybar Couture captured the essence of the story. Marjaneh created this party for her son’s birthday. We love incorporating vessels into the design of the party and Marjaneh did that well with the Lorax decorated apothecary jar. She simply filled an apothecary jar with red jelly beans and decorated it with Whimsical Printables. Sweet treats on…

Catherine from Serendipity Soiree styled this vintage firetruck dessert table for her son and husband who have birthdays just three days apart. Since ice cream is a treat that can span the generation gap, Catherine mixed a vintage truck theme with an ice cream float bar for her “men.” She kept both the party and the dessert table small. You don’t have to create a huge table to make a GIANT statement. We love the …

This romantic and rustic birdcage themed dessert table was created by Betty at P&J by Design. She styled this table for a wedding. Betty’s client wanted something earthy and romantic. Sweet treats on the dessert table included cupcakes, detailed birdcage biscuits, whoopie pies, and caramel macarons. Betty used tree trunks for the dessert vessels. Favor bags were stamped with a romantic quote. Scroll down for the vendor credits.

When my younger son was born, I used these jungle invites and this party reminds me of that design. This sweet safari party is from Emmy at Beyond Dessert. Emmy collaborated with Vivan from Envy Anvi to create this dessert table for a safari-loving little boy’s birthday party. The boy’s mom asked for a safari cake and the cake inspired the entire table. I love the details in the animal treats. I normally don’t like…

This rustic high tea party was sent to us by Debbie at Studio Cake in Australia. Debbie styled this tea party for her daughter and niece. The inspiration behind this sweet event was the beautiful tea set from Robert Gordon and the unbelievable scenery. The afternoon tea menu included vanilla iced cookies, cupcakes, strawberry macarons, and flavored milk. We love the soft pastel palette and the mix of glass and milk glass vessels. Scroll down…

With all of the recipes in this hunk of a book, I did realize one recipe error after the book went to print. It is only in the first edition so not all of the books have this error. If you are making the Moroccan Tile Cake on page 90 and you are missing the sugar in your ingredients (which is necessary!), please make sure you make the following change.
In the ingredients list, please…

When I first started to develop and pitch this book over three years ago, I envisioned what it be like to have this book that I had put together in my head. I envisioned what the book would look like, how it would feel, what it would look like in the store. Well, today is the day and I…

It is a rainy day in NYC today. This featured submissions put a little sun in our step. This garden flower party came to us from Debbie at Wants and Wishes. She designed this collection for her niece’s 9th birthday who asked for a garden party. Debbie used tissue flowers to create her backdrop. Instead of having cake on a cake stand as the centerpiece of the table, Debbie purchased a cardboard in the shape…
