This party came all the way from Colombia. Sent to us by Anna and Maria, they created this construction party for a little boy’s birthday party. The color palette is perfect for this time of year in the states and could easily be translated to a fall or Halloween party by making some of the elements a little spooky. How great are those tool chocolates? Adding a little red could easily make them spookier. The…

We love this spooky sparkly Halloween party that was sent to us by Ashley from Eye Candy Event Design. The purple and orange palette has become very popular for Halloween and it definitely works for this table. Sweet treats included cupcakes, two-toned macarons and ghost peeps. Popcorn boxes are the perfect way to house sweets that aren’t “candy”. The guests washed down their sweets with Genuine Elixir cocktails.
For another glittery and colorful Halloween party,…

Happy Halloween! We received this cute birthday party submission from Abby at The Cards We Drew. She created this party for her son’s second birthday. We love candy corn. We did a round up last year and this year of some of our favorite candy corn desserts and decorations. We love all of the sweet treats including the candy corn sugar cookies, candy corn patterned Oreos, candy corn cupcakes, mini mason jar pies, and orange…

Halloweekend post number two is a “Thriller”. This submission was sent to us by Jenny from Bloom Designs. She created this glam Halloween party for her daughter’s 10th birthday. Jenny wanted to incorporate her daughter’s love of dance without making her party feel too theme-y. Who better to find inspiration from than the King of Pop? She decided on an apple green and rosey pink color scheme. We love the wreath that she made from…

We are getting our costumes ready and putting our candy out in anticipation of Monday. Have I mentioned that Halloween is my favorite holiday?? We have had some fantastic halloween inspiration on the blog over the past month. Today, we are featuring this adorable party to give you some final ideas for Monday. Last year, we featured this adorable county fair themed party that Michelle from Cakewalk Baking created for her son Graham’s birthday. For…

Marta:
I would like to ask how do you deal with criticism ( if you have any) from clients or competitors?
I know you say competition is good and that constructive opinions are ok but sometimes I struggle with
what people say about my work or baked goods.
Amy:
Marta, I think everyone struggles somewhat with hearing criticism. It is hard to not take criticism personally. We all like to hear good things about ourselves. …

Amy from One Divine Party sent us this beautiful Bollywood inspired baby shower. The client expressed to Amy that she wanted a rich fall palette and a Moroccan theme. It reminds us of the Moroccan table we created for Brides Magazine. The rich palette and sweet details, including hanging flags and copper & gold Moorish lanterns, look like they could be right out of a Bollywood movie! The guests dined on shot glasses filled with…

We received this beautiful Linen & Lace dessert table from Alexandra at Avie & Lulu. There are so many pretty and feminine features in this table. We love the heart shaped cookies and the baskets that are reminiscent of bird nests. The mood and tone of the party was inspired by the beautiful invites Alexandra found from Little Paper Pantry. The highlight of the day was a giveaway teapot gift in the “Guess How Many…

My house is definitely a baseball house. My husband and our sons are huge Mets fans and love watching the games together. While the World Series is still in full swing, we wanted to share this World Series dessert table that we received from Lauryn at Creative Stations. Lauryn styled this table for a World Series party at the Westin in downtown St. Louis. We love that Lauryn chose an Americana palette rather than…

This table is so perfect for this time of year. Michelle at Favor Box Bakery sent us this Caramel Apple Affair that she created for friends and family. They spent the day eating caramel apples and pies, drinking apple cider and frolicking in the Autumn leaves. M&M’s, sprinkles and peanuts were provided for all of the guests at the fixin’s bar so they could create their own caramel apple. Every guest had a favor tag…

This morning, we showed you the stunning photos of the dessert table from the spa party that Emma Smith created for her daughter’s 9th birthday. We are back with “spa” photos. Emma made the robes, masks and slippers by hand. The ladies were pampered with manicures and pedicures. Knowing it is always a little difficult for 9 year olds to sit still, Emma also had a singing and dance competition for the girls. The goody…

We are so in love with this party. Maybe it is the warm coral and sea green palette or the idea of having a spa day. Either way, we thought it was executed perfectly. This submission was sent to us by Emma from Emma Smith Stationery. Emma’s daughter told her she wanted a “Tropical Day Spa” for her birthday. After several trips to the fabric and craft stores, Emma was ready to make (yes, …

How great is this cookie bar sent to us by Jennifer from Sweeten Your Day Events? She created this party for her daughter’s second birthday and held it at a local farm. Jennifer made most of the desserts herself. Crates purchased at Michaels were the perfect props to display the cookie buffet. We think the Cookie Crisp covered letter A was a fantastic touch. For favors, Jennifer created a “make your own cookie mix” table.…

The Tiffany blue palette always seems to add a touch of elegance to a party. We loved this housewarming party from Daisy at Leo and Bella in Australia. Her client wanted something elegant and feminine and the first thing that popped into her mind was a Tiffany theme, inspired by party printables from Polkadot Prints. We love how the panna cotta with the black dot in the center mimicked the backdrop. Other sweet treats included…

These days, it is hard to find someone who has not been touched by breast cancer. We have been really moved by the amount of submissions we received in honor of breast cancer awareness month. This submission made us swoon. This shoot was styled by Linda from Harper Event Designs. The pink ribbon is the international symbol for breast cancer awareness and we loved the way Helen at Kiss My Cakes incorporated it into all…

One of my earliest memories ever is the first time I saw a horror movie. Well, it was just a preview of a horror movie, but it was enough to get me scared out of my skull. I was about 4 years old and ready to watch a more kid-appropriate movie with my parents and brother when a preview for King Kong came on. I can remember yelling so loud that my dad had to…

Zebra patterns are always very popular. Kathryn from Sugar Tumble sent us her tutorial on how to make orange and black zebra cupcakes for halloween. These are super cute and would be easy to do with your little monsters. By switching out the colors, these would be great for tailgate parties or Super Bowl parties. Even better, change the colors to match your child’s school’s colors and we bet they would be snatched up quickly…

We have only 11 days until All Hallow’s Eve. We received this wickedly styled halloween feature from Jess over at Party Box Design. The desserts look amazing and we love how she incorporated the chevron pattern. We also love the subtle Wizard of Oz reference. Sweet treats included linzer cookies, cupcakes, white chocolate covered oreos and cake pops. If you like the printables that Jess used, she is offering them for free on her website.…
