Hello Kitty Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions, Kids
This featured submission from Linette of PaperGlitter is one that evokes many childhood memories for me. I loved Hello Kitty as a kid and I still remember my Hello Kitty erasers and jewelry chest.  Hello Kitty has been in the states since around 1976 and yet the brand is still timeless.  How many of you had something with Hello Kitty on it? Apparently, Linette’s daughter also is a Hello Kitty lover so Linette created a…

British Seaside Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions, Kids
This beachy beauty was sent to us by Josie of Bespoke Stationery & Party Planning.  She planned this party for her friends daughter’s birthday.  Her friend, a photographer, captured some great moments of the party and it ended up showcasing both of their talents beautifully.  The theme of the party was “British Seaside”.  Lunch consisted of marmite starfish sandwiches, cucumber slices & cherry tomatoes, gala apples & pink lemonade. We love the soft color palette…

Amy Atlas Moment: Teeny Tiny Table

Check out this Amy Atlas Moment created by Stephanie of Petit Plat in France.  If you look at the photo above, the colors and desserts on the table are lovely.  On closer inspection, and if you look at the picture below to see the scale, you’ll see the dessert table is just the size of a hand!  Stephanie creates miniature hand made food art for people to collect and even wear as jewelry.  We love…

Eloise Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions, Kids
We are in love with this Eloise spa-jama party that Catherine at Serendipity Soiree created for her daughter Liberty’s birthday.  When Liberty was asked what kind of party she wanted, she simply replied, “I am six, I love The Plaza, I want an Eloise Party.”  Catherine creatively transformed her home into a hotel. Upon arrival, guests registered at the “hotel” and were given room keys/charge cards with room numbers. The backyard was transformed into a…

Circus Inspired Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions, Kids
There was no clowning around when creating this party.  It was sent to us by Beckie Winston of Two Queen Bees. Beckie created this party for her 9 year old daughter.  Gathering her inspiration from Gwynn Wasson’s Circus Invitation (and the birthday girl’s love for cotton candy), Beckie created a circus themed party that looked like it was a ball!  Guests were entertained with fun games like the ball toss, ring toss and bucket…

Sunflower Soiree – Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions
After the rainy weekend we had in New York City, we were so happy to see this little ray of sunshine we received from Kelly Lyden of WH Hostess. Yesterday, we featured this dinosaur party that Kelly and Joanna collaborated on for Joanna’s son’s birthday.  This table was created by Kelly for her mother’s 60th birthday.  Celebrating her mother and the last bit of summer that was left, Kelly chose a crisp yellow and black…

Vintage Lace Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions
This table was sent to us by Marieke of Sweet Appetite.  Marieke created this table to showcase her beautiful desserts. Marieke was inspired by vintage lace she found at a flea market. Everything about this table is feminine and pretty. From the bell dome for the macarons, to the lace-patterned cake, Marieke did a great job at keeping it simple yet sophisticated.  Very well done. Photography by Lesley Stefanski…

Dino-mite Dinosaur Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions, Kids
We thought this table was DINO-Mite!  Joanna Warbiany created this table for her son Wyatt’s 4th birthday party. Joanna started by collaborating with Kelly Lyden of WH Hostess to create a custom dinosaur invitation (she also created all of the great signage). Once the palette was established, the rest of the table fell into place. Since the table was going to be outside, Joanna wanted bright colors that would pop. She also created cute names…

Great Finds: Sarah’s Stands & Giveaway!

By: Amy Atlas, in Great Finds, Swag
We have a fantastic giveaway for you today.  One of the things we’re always searching for is great cake stands.  When Sarah from Sarah’s Stands emailed us with her colorful cake stand collection, we were very excited to finally see cake stands in bold colors.  Sarah created her collection after searching for a larger cake stand for her wedding cake. Frustrated with her lack of choices, she decided to create her own…soon Sarah’s Stands was…

Tinkerbell Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions, Kids
We are loving everything about this Tinkerbell party that was sent to us by Krista Salmon of Kikis List.  Krista created this party for her daughter’s 3rd birthday.  The Heather Bailey pattern that she used for the backdrop was the inspiration for the color palette for the party. The enchanted Tinkerbell cake is beautiful.  Vibrant garden roses, ranunculus, peonies, viburnum and gerber daisies on tree trunks gave the otherwise kid vibe a sophisticated feel.  Fun…

Sip & See Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions
We love the southern tradition of a Sip ‘N See.  For anyone who has never heard of it, you can equate it to a baby shower but it is given after the baby is born. Sarah Crawford from Lil’ Hoot Parties created this Sip ‘N See party for her niece June, who was born in July (and celebrated in August.)  After two nephews, June was “A Welcome Change” and everyone was excited to meet her…

Behind the Scenes with Amy Atlas – Back to Baking

By: Amy Atlas, in Amy's Latest, Behind The Scenes
I was back in the kitchen yesterday for a fun, holiday baking editorial project.  My kids were away for the day and it gave me a chance to do some serious testing all day.  Lucky for them, I saved lots of festive treats for them.  There were eggnog cookies with homemade eggnog, peppermint and gingerbread treats, and even a Nutella dessert {more to come on this as the holidays approach}.  With Hurricane Irene on its…

Sweet Fairy Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions, Kids
Melissa and Kelly of Icing Designs sent us this enchanting fairy-themed party, which they created for two little birthday girls, Stella and Evelyn. “Sweet Fairy” invitations from their Etsy shop set the tone for the party. Evoking a magical woodland atmosphere, they made two gorgeous over-sized paper flowers to hang above the dessert table. They draped pink tulle from the flowers and positioned hand-cut butterflies amidst it. The tangled branch centerpiece featured more hand-cut butterflies,…

Dandelions and Fireflies Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions
How pretty is this party from Amber of Party On?  Amber created this party for a little girl’s first birthday party.  What is so striking about this party is the vibrant color palette.  We love how the grey and black balances the bold hot pink and yellow hues.  The theme for this outdoor party was “dandelions and fireflies” and Amber brought in mason jars, citronella tea lights, and tin planters filled with bright yellow…

“Monsieur” Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions
Amy of Sugar Chic Designs created this dashing “Monsieur” dessert table for a stylish gentleman’s birthday party. She gave the display a masculine feel by incorporating deep colors and elements from nature, such as the animal hide runner, succulent plants and the birchbark containers. This table could easily be translated for a Fall party by bringing in acorn cookies, pumpkin flavored desserts and pies.  The hexagonal chandelier hanging above the table compliments the masculine theme,…

Hot Air Balloon Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions
Thetis from Little Sooti Events in Melbourne created a Vintage Hot Air Balloon party for Zoe’s 3rd birthday.  We love how light and dreamy this table feels, almost like its floating on air!  White felt clouds float effortlessly above the dessert table, which is highlighted in soft pastel colors.  A trio of milk glass cake stands are positioned in the middle, featuring a fondant cake decorated with a hot air balloon basket and fluffy clouds.…

Mexican Margarita Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions
After the scary tremors we felt in New York yesterday, this party is looking mighty fine. Linsey of Lux Events and Design sent us these great pictures from the “Keep Calm and Drink a Margarita” birthday party her family threw for her. The color palette for the event was a very tropical hot pink, lime green, and orange with a splash of yellow. In keeping with the theme, there were margarita machines dispensing strawberry and…

Mary Poppins Inspired Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions, Kids
Sharnel of My Life My Loves threw a Mary Poppins Tea Party for her daughter Olivia’s 7th birthday (we posted pictures from her 5th birthday party here). The focal point of the party was a fabulous Victorian carousel dessert table Sharnel made with the help of a carpenter.  Isn’t that fabulous?  Atop the table was a pink and blue fondant cake decorated with a carousel horse. We love all of the Mary Poppins elements that…

Tooth Fairy Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions, Kids
‹‹ Baking is a perennially popular activity for little girls’ birthday parties. Renee, of The Creative Orchard, sent us her version of this idea, featuring the Tooth Fairy. The little bakers decorated molar-shaped cookies and cupcake “sundaes” using a rainbow of sprinkles that Renee displayed in a station she created. Incisor-inspired treats included toothbrush pretzels, chocolate tooth wands, meringue toothpaste, candy necklaces affixed to a “Sweet Tooth Chart,” lik-m-tongue depressors and Wrigley’s Dessert Delights gum.…
