Oooh La La Paris Guest Dessert Feature

We thought this post was C’est Magnifique!  Leoni from Just Call Me Martha of Australia sent us her “Paris in winter luncheon” that she created for her daughter’s 11th birthday. Leoni’s daughter loves Paris (especially the Eiffel Tower) and begged her for a Paris theme. To make the party stand out, she gave it a modern twist with a red and blue striped theme.  Most of the elements of the party were handmade and Leoni added some wintery touches as it is still pretty cold in Australia at the moment.

Guests received fun “Bonjour Mademoiselle” invites from Jennifer Birkhead Design.  Leoni and her daughter made envelopes from color copied Paris street maps topped with Par Avion (free from the post office) and Eiffel stamps (free download from Google images).  To add height to the table, Leoni purchased styrofoam square cake dummies (a trick we use often) and wrapped them in white wool. Leoni also used plain ‘ole cans to hold the cookies and macarons and once again wrapped them in white wool to dress them up.  We love these tricks!  We also adore the table setting for the girls. Other fun details included carnation/feather arrangements, a Parisian backdrop, a striped runner, and Parisian-inspired signage from Parisian-inspired signage.

Some of the sweet treats were mini white hot chocolates with marshmallow stirrers, raspberry macarons on sticks, Eiffel tower cookies and vanilla and coconut snow cupcakes. The Pièce de résistance was the Eiffel tower cake made from double chocolate sponge cake filled with chocolate buttercream and covered in fondant.

Each guest was given a mini wool felted postman’s satchel containing fun Parisian trinkets like a notebook covered in Paris street map paper, a striped pen, and vintage airmail paper/envelope set. Did Leoni do a great job?  We say Oui Oui!
