Fancy Food Show RoundUp

We just came back from The Fancy Food Show and are here to share a roundup of some of our favorite discoveries. The show is usually held in New York, but this year we trekked to Washington, DC for the big show.  We go to a lot of trade shows, but this one is our baby.  We’ve been going there for years and it is at this show where we meet so many of our great suppliers.  There weren’t a ton of new suppliers {which happens especially in a not-so-great economy}, but I make sure the AAE crew walks every single aisle just in case there is a diamond in the rough!  Since not all of you can make it there, we’ve sharing some of our top picks here.  Some trends we saw were sweet sauces/dips, biscotti bites, and artisanal spins on basic chocolate bars.

Some noteworthy newcomers on the block…

Honey goat milk caramels by Happy Goat Caramel.

Pistachio, Cardamom and Orange Essence dark chocolate bars from Sulpice Chocolat.  Try the caramelized hazelnut chocolate bars, too!

Organic goodies like peanut butter cups and nut butters from Justin’s.

Just darn good chocolate like single origin bars from Askinosie Chocolate.

Shaped sugars from Gourmet Sugar Co.


And some new products from some chocolatiers/candy purveyors who have been around…

Green tea hazelnuts from Knipschildt.

Red velvet truffles from Nancy Candy Co.

New dips {like pumpkin pie and white chocolate peanut butter} from Hammonds Candies.

Key lime biscotti bites from Traverse Bay Confections.
