Superhero Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions, Kids
How cute is this Superhero party that Pauline {of The Party Studio and Sophisticated Yum} whipped up for her son Ben’s birthday bash?  Pauline created a cityscape backdrop for her big focal point on the table.  I love the sugar superhero on the top of the cake, the stenciled superhero desserts, the use of comic strips and speech bubbles for vessel liners, the power cookies, and the adorable superhero goody bags.  Great job, Pauline!…

Baking Birthday Party Guest Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions, Kids
How sweet is this baking birthday party created by Amy of Our Daily Obsessions?   It reminds me of this fun baking party that we featured a few months ago.  It looks so bright and cheery that I want to dive right into the pictures, especially on this cold and gloomy day we’re experiencing in NYC.  Amy took the trend of using cupcake wrappers to decorate a step further with the adorable cupcake wrapper decor on…

Azar of Principal Planner in Montreal sent over these gorgeous photos of a dessert display that even Marie Antoinette would envy.  We featured Azar’s beautiful work once before here.  We are totally swooning over all of the romantic details of this table.  The feathered floral arrangements, ruffled cakes, damask vessel liners, and fanciful desserts are so lovely.  Scroll down to see more beautiful photos of the table from Monique Simone.…

Behind the Book – Photo Shoot Phase I

We’ve been so busy this week with our book shoot that we barely had time to blog!  We just finished a four day shoot for our first phase of the book.  The schedule was jam packed.  We moved all of our props to studio and our goal was to capture several tables in a small amount of time.  We had a tight schedule to keep and we needed to stick with it. Luckily, we met…

Rainbow Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions, Kids
We’ve seen a lot of rainbows this year in posts (rainbow cakes, rainbow sorbet, you name it), but this rainbow guest dessert feature by Janelle and Samone of Cake Ink really caught our eye.  It has a colorful, happy feel that just makes me smile.  I love how they mixed in some vintage vessels like the biscuit box and wooden vessels with the bright colored rainbow design.  The lollipop floral arrangements, umbrella cookies, cloud favor…

It’s is another adorable Valentine’s guest feature on the blog today and lucky little Scarlett had a “sweet as pie” party theme to celebrate her second birthday {courtesy of her talented mom Danelle of The Letter D}.  I love this original sweetie pie theme, complete with sweetie (pie) cookies, a sweetie pie cake, mini pies, and adorable “sweetie” signage from The Letter D.  It looks like this sweetie pie had a “sweet” Valentine’s Day!…

Valentine’s Submission 2 – Featured Submission

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions
The second Valentine’s Day table of the day was sent to us by Emilyn from Love ‘Em Sweet.  I love that Emilyn did not go the traditional Red/White route and chose pink and blue instead.  Everything that is on the table was handmade by Emilyn.  The cake and the paper heart garland are very sweet.  Lots of love on this table!…

Happy Valentine’s Day – Featured Submission 1

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions
We are feeling the love today.  We were inundated with Valentine’s Day submissions this year.  We decided to post a couple.  The first one is from Stefanie Richter from Anna and Blue Paperie.  Stefanie wanted to create a table that could work well for both children and adults.  Stefanie used many items that could be purchased at stores like Pottery Barn Kids and Target.  I love the pink, grey and silver color palette like we…

Dolce! Featured Submission

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions
We received this sweet submission from Alessandra of Almalu’s Place in Italy.  I thought this table was very sweet, simple and approachable.  Alessandra created this table for a Back 2 School party but it can easily be translated to a holiday party or small gathering.  All of the items were homemade.  Molto Bene!…

Behind the Book – The Planning Phase

We’re starting a new series on the blog today called “Behind the Book” where I’ll show my experiences and some behind-the-scenes peeks of making my first book.  There are many decisions that go into making a book like this, especially when it is such a visual book like mine.  If you know me, I’m a cookbook hoarder, tear sheet collector, and I’ve been keeping a journal of my ideas for years.  When I was little,…

You all know that we have been knee-deep in preparation for our book shoot.   I’ll be sharing some bits of information as we get ready, and I thought I’d let you know the fabulous photographer who will be capturing all of the shots. Johnny Miller is an insanely talented photographer and I’m so thrilled that he is on our team.  He shoots for Martha Stewart and Kate Spade regularly, as well as many other fantastic…

Back 2 School Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions, Kids
There is nothing about this table that I don’t love.  Leoni from Just Call Me Martha down under sent us this table she created for her daughter’s 4th birthday party.  The theme of the party was Back to School since Australia’s summer break is about to end.  Leoni told us that she took her inspiration from our Back to School Bake Sale.  This table has so many creative elements.  The use of the chalkboard for…

Party Fit for a Princess Guest Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions, Kids
Ebony from Sparkling Events & Design sent us these photos from a Spa Party she planned for a lucky little girl.  Ebony used this party as her inspiration.   The party was held in a spa and Ebony had the challenge of taking the spa the the next level.  I love the Lilly Pulitzer vibe of the party with pink and green trellis plates.  Several stations were set up all around the spa such as manicure/pedicure…
