I’m loving this flag cupcake from Martha Stewart for a Memorial Day barbeque. If you don’t have time to bake today, you can pick up vanilla {or any flavor cupcakes} from your local supermarket or bakery and dress up with licorice lace stripes and piped blue buttercream stars. Speaking of Martha Stewart, we’re featured on Martha Stewart Weddings today so be sure to stop by. We’ll be back on Martha Stewart Weddings on Friday to…

This guest dessert table comes all the way from Durban, South Africa. Zalita of Cupcake D’Lights sent us pictures of a recent dessert table for a young girl’s princess birthday party. Zalita makes cupcakes but was inspired by us to try out a dessert table. The wrapped lollipops are SUPER cute. Dressing up lollipops with tissue paper is an inexpensive and easy way to instantly dress up pops. The Zoe banner is also really sweet.…

Have I ever told you all what a huge design crush I have on Madeline Weinrib? From chevron patterns to mandalas to brocades, Madeline Weinrib has rocked a variety of designs. She also nails interesting color palettes all the time. Madeline is widely known in the home design world, but her products can be easily used to decorate an event as well. We’re designing a dinner party and we’re using lots of Madeline Weinrib pillows…

Culinary Crafts in Utah sent over some pictures of a circus themed dessert table they created for a recent birthday party. It looks like the buzz of our dessert bar trend has hit the beehive state!
Culinary Crafts took inspiration from our old fashioned candy bar here. I love how Culinary Crafts made a circus design still look fresh and not too commercial. Some of my favorite details…

I saw this over the weekend and immediately knew I had to share it with you. Splitcoaststampers held a card making contest based on our designs. For those who don’t know, Splitcoaststampers is a web-based community for crafters who love card making, rubber stamping, and scrapbooking. Splitcoast Challenge Hostess Smilyn Stef challenged her fellow crafters to use any of our designs in a card making contest {I’m so flattered Stef!}
These were all created the…

I’m loving this “county fair” take on a dessert table from Anneliese of Aesthetic Nest. Anneliese created this party for her daughter and niece’s 4th birthday party. This party is very sweet for a kids party, but can also be elevated to an adult party as well. My fave details are the bandana quilt tablecloth, the adorable coordinated outfits, and the orange preserve jars made with fabric from here. Check out the diy for the…

How sweet is this Parisian inspired dessert table from Melissa and Kellie of Icing Designs for Melissa’s twins birthday party? This party has that certain je ne sais qua, right? I love the rosette lollipop topiaries {check out the diy here}, the crepe paper crackers, and that darling Bon Appetit menu. I’m sure everyone was saying “ooh la la” at this party. Merci, merci for sharing!…

Today’s guest dessert table feature is a kid’s dessert table from Lindsey of Bella Grace Designs. Lindsey created an all pink party ala Pinkalicious for her daughter Alyssa’s birthday, which Lindsey said was inspired by us. Lindsey used oversized balloons like we often use for a focal point for her table. The cake is really sweet and simple and the dessert table is the appropriate size for a kid’s birthday party. I also love how…

I had the pleasure of attending the opening of David Stark’s purely paper flower pop-up shoppe at West Elm last night. For those who don’t know, I am a huge fan of David’s work. David is well known for using unexpected materials to create innovative and dramatic installations. If you are not familiar with his work, visit his site now! It is an experience!
For his most recent installation, David created an entire pop-up shoppe…

Linda and Christina of Holy Sweet Blogspot in Stockholm, Sweden emailed me with pictures of their first dessert table. Linda and Christina are bakers, but just ventured into the dessert table world after seeing my tables on the blogosphere. Apparently, no one in Sweden is doing sweets tables yet so Sweden may be seeing a new trend soon. I love the color palette and the yummy desserts they chose work naturally with the color palette.…

Remember this dessert table that we created for The Wedding Library back in 2008?
Photography by Gemma Comas for Amy Atlas Events.
Well Amal Sarah of the Wedding Chateau sent me these pictures of her party all the way from Singapore and the beautiful event decor would have lived perfectly with our dessert bar. Amal also took a stab at a dessert bar and it came out really lovely. I love seeing that our trend…

My family loves having tea and cookies after dinner. We drink out of petite tea cups and my sons like to pretend that they are serving the tea. It is usually the time when we reflect about our hectic day and we try (emphasize try – they are boys after all!) to have a moment of peace with them.
So when I saw Meghan Mountford’s over-the-rim cookies, I flipped over the idea. Seriously, I can’t…

Vicky Hudgins from The City Cradle emailed me with pictures of a dessert table she created for a birthday girl. This dessert table is sweet and appropriate for a small home party for kids. Most of the desserts on the table are store bought or can be easily made at home. Vicky incorporated a pretty pinwheel and pearl design throughout the table. My favorite detail is the pinwheel-starburst pops. You can probably create the pinwheel…

Cinco de Mayo is tomorrow so it is time to put on some mariachi music and get into the festive mood. Below is a roundup of Cinco de Mayo decor including Papel Picado decor. Papel picado is the traditional Mexican folk art of punching colorful tissue paper to create beautifully designed banners. If you are intimidated by an intricate pattern, you can create a simple fringe papel picado with just tissue paper, twine, scissors and…

How amazing is this diy vellum mobile created by Jordan Ferney of Oh Happy Day? This vellum mobile can be created in any color palette and can be a real show stopper at your party. Fill your party room with it, hang it over your dessert bar or buffet area, or create a chuppah out of this gorgeous mobile. The best part of this project…it can be made for less than $25 with just vellum…
