Great Finds: Girl Scout Cookies {Re-visited)

By: Amy, in Great Finds, Recipes

We ordered boxes of Girl Scout …cookies and we’re patiently awaiting their arrival. Some of our friends on Facebook have mentioned that they received their packages this week and it has been fun to see which cookies each person prefers. Mine are the Tag-A-Longs with Samoas a close second. All this talk of girl scout cookies made us think of desserts that are inspired by the green badge cookies. We scoured the web and found

Fab Four Guest Dessert Feature

This party made us want to TWIST & SHOUT!!! Flavia from Alecrim Atelie de Festa in Rio de Janiero created this party for her son’s birthday party. Her son is a huge fan of  The Beatles and knows everything about them from their names to their guitars and lyrics. Giving a nod to their nationality, Flavia used the British flag as inspiration for the color palette. John, Paul, George, and Ringo appeared on desserts and…

Amy Atlas Moment: First Birthday Party

One of the best things about this book experience so far has been the enormous support that I have received from YOU (thank you). One of the things that makes me smile the most is when our readers tell us that they were given the confidence to create their own dessert tables because of us. At the Bloomingdales event, that is exactly what happened when I met Anne. She spoke about the table she created…

This Pink Poodle Party was sent to us by Leonie from Ashlee Rae. She styled this party for daughter’s 5th birthday. Sweet treats on the dessert table included marshmallow clouds, chocolate cupcakes and cake pops. We love the Strawberry Oreo cookies that Leonie created by using store bought Oreos and adding strawberry icing in the shape of a paw print. It is a fantastic and cost effective alternative to having cookies made and looked fantastic…

Colorful Floral Guest Dessert Feature

We are loving this dessert table from cake designer Asma of The Sugared Saffron in the UK. She collaborated with stylist Andri from Always Andri to create this bold and colorful sweets table for a bridal shoot. We love the kaleidoscope of vertical ribbon strips over the tablecloth. We’ve done this often and it is an inexpensive way to dress up a simple white linen.  We also love Andri’s choice to make the table asymmetrical…

This dessert table was sent to us by Vania at Canadian Hostess. To escape the long harsh Canadian winter, Vania decided to create a seaside atmosphere for her little sailor’s 3rd voyage. Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss Part II

Kelly of Paper Stories sent in this whimsical, kid-appropriate Dr. Seuss-inspired dessert bar so I could share it with you. I recently wrote on Stroller Traffic about creating a book-themed party for kids and this is a perfect example of a book-themed party.  In our home, we read Dr. Seuss books all the time and “Green Eggs and Ham” is a staple in the bedtime routine so I really enjoyed seeing this table.  Kelly labeled…

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!

Today would have been the 108th birthday of Theodor Seuss Geisel p/k/a Dr. Seuss. In his honor, …we are reposting a couple of Dr. Seuss themed parties that we featured last year.  I will not eat green eggs and ham!

When we saw this submission, we were jumping for joy.
‘Cause this party is great for a girl or a boy.
We received it from Alison, a cake maker down under.
She styled the

Proud as a Peacock Guest Dessert Feature

Last year we showed you how we are “Passionate for Peacock”.  When this table from Joanne of Oh Goodie Designs came our way, it reminded us why. Joanne styled this party for her creative assistant’s daughter’s birthday party. The bright colors are playful, yet could easily be used for an adult soiree as well. Joanne used an antique door that had legs added as her dessert table. Sweet treats included that beautiful cake, peacock sugar…

Pink & Green Guest Dessert Feature

This pretty table was styled by Renee from Lola and Co. Styling. She created the party for a little girl’s first birthday. Inspired by an invitation from Lorallee Lewis, Renee used a pink and green palette. Scalloped name tags and doilies gave this table a very feminine touch, while rose paper rosette fans brought the focal point up and gave the palette a little punch. An old doll house that Renee found was used to…

Bunny Guest Dessert Feature

This submission was sent to us by one of our readers, Jill. Jill created a this pastel blue party for her daughter’s birthday. Since bunnies were part of the design, we thought it would be great for an Easter party.  We love the simplicity of the white poms on the back of the chairs to represent bunny tails. In addition to the ombre rose cake, Jill served French desserts like napoleans, profiteroles, pale blue bon…
