Recipe: {Sprinkled Hazelnut Truffles}

Confession…I’m a Nutella addict. Well, you all know I love chocolate and nuts so it isn’t that big of a surprise, right?  In honor of  World Nutella Day this Tuesday, we are sharing our Nutella truffle recipe with you from Sweet Designs. If the thought of Nutella hazelnut spread sounds good this morning, just imagine what it would taste like mixed with good chocolate, butter and of course hazelnuts into small, round truffles. These truffles…

We are sending you off this weekend with a little Halloween inspiration from Cris at Crissy’s Crafts. Crissy used store bought goodies and gave them a wicked makeover for this small party for her kids. The little witches snacked on witch brew-shaped sandwiches and cheese stick pretzel broomsticks. How great are those olives coming out of the brew? When designing this table, Amy used a black tree as the centerpiece. Lime green gave the table a pop of color. Sweet treats on the dessert table included skeleton cupcakes and an array of candy. Great Gatsby Guest Dessert Feature

I will never forget the first time I had to read “The Great Gatsby” for school. I could not put it down. Growing up in New York, there was something so exciting about seeing my city in the roaring 20′s through F. Scott Fitzgerald’s eyes. There is a lot of hoopla right now in Australia while they film the latest adaptation. This featured submission was sent to us by Monique from Darling Details. Inspired by…

Giving Thanks Guest Dessert Feature

This party made us want to run outside and frolic in the Central Park leaves. It is very approachable and perfect for Halloween, Thanksgiving or fall. We received this submission from Catherine at Serendipity Soiree. Catherine created this fall celebration for her family. She used burlap to cover the table and risers which added to the rustic feel, along with the natural wooded setting of their yard. Sweet treats included homemade chocolate fudge cake, apple…

Spooky & Sparkly Guest Dessert Feature

We love this spooky sparkly Halloween party that was sent to us by Ashley from Eye Candy Event Design.  The purple and orange palette has become very popular for Halloween and it definitely works for this table. Sweet treats included cupcakes, two-toned macarons and ghost peeps. Popcorn boxes are the perfect way to house sweets that aren’t “candy”. The guests washed down their sweets with Genuine Elixir cocktails.
For another glittery and colorful Halloween party,…

Halloweekend Countdown: Thriller of a Party

Halloweekend post number two is a “Thriller”.  This submission was sent to us by Jenny from Bloom Designs. She created this glam Halloween party for her daughter’s 10th birthday. Jenny wanted to incorporate her daughter’s love of dance without making her party feel too theme-y.  Who better to find inspiration from than the King of Pop? She decided on an apple green and rosey pink color scheme. We love the wreath that she made from…

Halloweekend Countdown: Horror Movie Madness

One of my earliest memories ever is the first time I saw a horror movie. Well, it was just a preview of a horror movie, but it was enough to get me scared out of my skull.  I was about 4 years old and ready to watch a more kid-appropriate movie with my parents and brother when a preview for King Kong came on.  I can remember yelling so loud that my dad had to…

Halloweekend Countdown: Orange & Black Cupcakes

By: Amy, in Great Finds, Recipes

Zebra patterns are always very popular. Kathryn from Sugar Tumble sent us her tutorial on how to make orange and black zebra cupcakes for halloween. These are super cute and would be easy to do with your little monsters. By switching out the colors, these would be great for tailgate parties or Super Bowl parties. Even better, change the colors to match your child’s school’s colors and we bet they would be snatched up quickly…

Halloweekend Countdown: Wickedly Wizard

We received this featured wizardly Harry Potter submission from Katie at Petit Social and thought it would so fun for a haunted halloween party.  Katie styled this table for a little boy’s 7th birthday. Katie used dark blues, yellows and greys to give the table a vintage feel. To make the table spooky, creepy elements like owls, spiders, rats, cauldrons, and test tubes were used. Wizardly treats included items like wizard’s teeth, magical wands cauldron…

Halloweekend Countdown: Bat Scary!

This trick or treat themed party was sent to us by Dorangela of Two Prince Bakery Theatre. All of the desserts are entirely gluten free, casein free, soy free and nut free. Both of Dorangela’s sons have severe allergies so it has become her passion to come up with allergen free desserts. Dorangela headed back to the basics using an orange and black palette. She then added a hint of grey. The allergen free menu…
