Construction Party Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions, Kids
We kind of fell in love with all of the desserts in this construction party. This party was “built” by Belinda from Styled By Belle to display the construction themed party invitations from Love JK. Using an old garden bench, spray paint and a  piece of MDF board, Belinda created a tool bench to display the sweet treats. A range of tools (raided from Dad’s tool shed) were hung on a peg board to bring…

Construction Party Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions, Kids
We are going from a party for a little guy to a party for a BIG guy. This party was styled by Martina from MaR-Valicious BiteS in Australia for her husband’s 30th birthday. She collaborated with Peta from Pure Bliss Creations. Martina’s husband works in construction so his occupation inspired this construction dessert table. Sweet treats on the dessert table included toolkit cookies, traffic light caramel tarts, traffic signal cake pops, orange cones, and meringue…

Construction Zone Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions, Kids
This afternoon, we showed you this fun construction party. Now we’re back with another construction party from Rachel of Fondant Flinger. Rachel created a savory table and a dessert table for her son’s 4th birthday party. Sweet treats included peanut butter buckeyes, “rock” cake balls, traffic ice cream cones, marshmallow pops, and cupcakes. A seven foot wooden crane that was built by Rachel’s husband held a “wrecking ball” which was the highlight of the party.…

Construction Crew Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions, Kids
If your boys are like mine, they love everything about transportation. They love buses, subways, cars, and especially trucks. This collection from the crew at Spaceships and Laserbeams is perfect for your truck loving tot. We love the props that they used including a plywood backdrop with #2 outlined in rocks, duct tape roll containers {brilliant!} for cashew clusters, and store bought shovels for vessels. We also love how the plain buttercream cake was turned…

Construction Zone Guest Dessert Feature

Who knew that you can do birthday parties at the Home Depot? What a great idea for kids. This party was sent to us by Maysem from Ode to Inspiration. Turkey sandwiches, bags of sliced apples, and organic fruit snacks were packaged in tin lunch boxes. Sweet treats included “mud cupcakes” presented in a dump truck, sugar cookies and  clementines. Hard hats and orange traffic cone “cups” accessorized the tables. Guests took home hard hats…

Construction Ahead Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions, Kids
We received this submission from Amanda at The Kawaii Notebook in Australia. Her son is mad about trucks so she styled this construction truck themed table for his birthday. Amanda used many of the sweet styling tips that I employ. She took styrofoam cake dummies, painted them grey to resemble concrete blocks and used them  as risers on the cake table. This is very simple, easy, and cost effective. Also, I always say find items…

Around the Atlas: Colombia

By: Amy Atlas, in Amy's Latest
This party came all the way from Colombia.  Sent to us by Anna and Maria, they created this construction party for  a little boy’s birthday party. The color palette is perfect for this time of year in the states and could easily be translated to a fall or Halloween party by making some of the elements a little spooky. How great are those tool chocolates? Adding a little red could easily make them spookier. The…

Labor Day Post

By: Amy Atlas, in Amy's Latest
Like many Americans, this coming week will be a very emotional one for me. I remember September 11, 2001 like it was yesterday.  I was on the Upper West Side of Manhattan when the first plane hit the World Trade Center. I can’t believe it has been a decade since that fateful day.  Today is Labor Day. I want to dedicate my post today to those people who are tirelessly working to rebuild the World…

Constructing a Party Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions, Kids
Being a mom of two boys, I have to admit that I get extremely excited when we get great submissions about boy parties. A couple of weeks ago, we showed you this post from the ladies over at Spaceships and Laserbeams. This week, we are featuring this fabulous boy party from Marissa at The Princess and the Pirate.  Marissa styled this terrific table for her son’s 3rd birthday party.  The yellow and black color palette…
