Circus Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions, Kids
We’re not the biggest fans of clowns, but Melissa of The Sweet Society made this circus/clown party so chic. Melissa created this for her son’s 8th birthday. Melissa’s son loves the Bozo the Clown book so Melissa used that as inspiration for the party. We love how the old fashioned machinery at the venue gave it a vintage vibe. Sweet treats on the dessert table included a clown harlequin cake, clown cakepops, star cookies, rice…

Summer Circus Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions, Kids
Summer is getting into full swing in NYC and this Summer Circus Soiree is perfect for a sunny day. Mariana from Peace of Cake styled this party for a little boy’s first birthday party. Mariana took inspiration for the party from the little boy’s favorite toy which was a rattle shaped like an elephant on a ball. We love the color palette and how the desserts pop against the white display. Sweet treats included a…

Harlequin Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions
How fun is the harlequin pattern and color palette in this dessert table shoot styled by Vesna from One Lovely Day for her magazine My Little Jedi? It’s an unexpected color palette and mixture of props, yet it works together. We love how the fluid lines on the swirly buttercream and the tissue paper flowers offsets the sharp lines of the harlequin pattern. Sweet treats included a buttercream cake, cupcakes, macarons, lamingtons, chocolate tart and…

Curious George Circus Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions, Kids
How fun is this “Curious George goes to the Circus” party that Belinda from Styled by Belle in Australia styled for a little boy’s fifth birthday?  We think any kid would flip over it. Using vibrant colors, Belinda brought the circus to life. Sweet treats on the dessert table included a  4-tiered circus cake with Curious George on the top of the circus ball, man with yellow hat cupcakes, circus stool sugar cookies, monkey cake…

Lemonade Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions, Kids
Spring is in the air and this Spring inspired guest dessert feature was sent to us by Jenny at Bloom Designs Online. She was having some neighborhood friends over and thought a lemonade stand full of sweet treats would be the perfect way to welcome both her friends and the warm weather. Jenny’s vanilla cake was inspired by the Necco Wafer runner in the Pastel Pretty chapter of Sweet Designs. We love seeing ideas from…

Step Right Up Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions, Kids
This pretty pink circus party was sent to us by Donna from Monkey Moo Moo Parties. Donna and her partner Kim created this party for a little girl’s 4th birthday. We love the neutral burlap tablecloth with the pink and yellow palette. It made the pink sweets pop! Sweet treats on the dessert table included dotted pink cakes with elephants, cotton candy, pixy sticks, and of course peanuts. Guests received fun circus props and walked…

Circus Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions, Kids
These sweet and savory circus tables were sent to us by Stephanie of Spaceships and Laser Beams. She created this table for New Year’s Eve, but it would be great for many occasions. Stars filled with yarn poms were used for the backdrop {fantastic!} and a “Step Right Up!” banner invited guests to dine. Guests were offered roasted pepper salad, potato rounds, tomato schiacciata, and a squash/lentil tourtiere to bring in good luck for the…

Vintage Circus Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions, Kids
We’re not the biggest fans of circus parties, but we think this French vintage take on the traditional circus theme is pretty chic. Michelle from Social Event Planning Co used red and black to show off thick striped and polka dot patterns. Sweet treats included circus staples such as red candy apples, cotton candy and lollipops, as well as donut pops and Bakerella-inspired cake pops. We love the popcorn topiaries and think they were the…

Under the Big Top Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions, Kids
This part was sent to us by Bird from Bird’s Party. She created this printable collection for her kids’ birthday.  Bird’s children were born on the same day two years apart.  She always finds it challenging to come up with a theme that will work for both age groups and genders. This year’s theme was “Under the Big Top”! For the invitations Bird wanted a “circus is in town poster” kind of look. Included in the…

Circus Inspired Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions, Kids
There was no clowning around when creating this party.  It was sent to us by Beckie Winston of Two Queen Bees. Beckie created this party for her 9 year old daughter.  Gathering her inspiration from Gwynn Wasson’s Circus Invitation (and the birthday girl’s love for cotton candy), Beckie created a circus themed party that looked like it was a ball!  Guests were entertained with fun games like the ball toss, ring toss and bucket…

Quilted Cake and Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions, Kids
Have you all ever seen Erica O’Brien’s cakes?  If you haven’t, you should check them out now!  They are beautiful.  I’m loving this quilted cake that she made for a recent birthday party for Charla Brummel’s daughter Brooklyn.  I love the muted take on the circus theme with aqua and gold instead of the traditional primary colors like royal blue and bright yellow for a circus theme.  The real quilt under the cake platter is…

Circus Guest Dessert Feature

How cute is this circus guest dessert table created by Leanne of Mrs. A in the Cove blog from Australia?  I get a lot of circus submissions, but this one was executed beautifully.  I love the circus tent cupcakes, the mini doughnuts, and the small jars of strawberry milk.  Leanne did a few things right here.  First, she created a nice balance of varying heights on her table.  She also left area on the table…

Colorful Circus Elephant Guest Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions, Kids
It is rainy in NYC today so I thought I’d share a colorful party that will lift up anyone’s gloomy mood. Kelly of the The Well Heeled Hostess recently sent over pictures of this adorable kids elephant circus party that she created for a set of 4 year old twins. The twins love the circus so Kelly created a colorful elephant parade candy table. I think any kid would have wanted a ticket to this…

Circus Guest Dessert Table Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions
All photographs by Logan of Zuma Photo. Culinary Crafts in Utah sent over some pictures of a circus themed dessert table they created for a recent birthday party. It looks like the buzz of our dessert bar trend has hit the beehive state! Culinary Crafts took inspiration from our old fashioned candy bar here. I love how Culinary Crafts made a circus design still look fresh and not too commercial. Some of my favorite details…
