Baking Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions, Kids
Remember Leanne of Sweet Style’s gorgeous Pantone party back in May? Well, Leanne is back today with this baking party and we’re all swooning over it here. The party was created for a little girl’s 5th birthday party. Since the birthday girl loves baking and her mom owns Yum-ME Cakes, a cookie and cupcake decorating party seemed appropriate. Yum-ME Cakes made the cake, cookies, cake pops and cupcakes. We love how Leanne incorporated the pretty…

Baking Party Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions, Kids
We love baking parties for kids.  Not only do the ‘lil guests get to work together to create something, but they get to taste their creations as well. Also, there are the adorable aprons! This “Bake A Cake” party was sent to us by Francisca from Cupcake in Portugal. Pretty poms, a cupcake wrapper garland and polka dot printables by 512 Ideias added to the charm of this sweet party. Sweet treats on the dessert…

Sweet Baking Party Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions, Kids
This pretty pastel cake decorating party was styled by Lina from Sweet Bambini Event Styling in Australia for her daughter’s birthday. There are so many intricate details so be sure to look closely at each picture! We love the spoon chandelier, hanging chef hats over the dessert table and the parisian style pastry cookies. Sweet treats on the dessert table that fabulous fondant cake, gold dusted marshmallows, cake pops, macarons, cupcakes, nougat, and chocolate covered…

Medieval Feast Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions, Kids
This creative medieval party was styled by Nicole from Kiddilicious for her son’s 6th birthday. Stone castle walls lined the room and a dining feast fit for a king was created. Guests were greeted with crowns and were ushered off to play medieval games. Pool noodles were used for jousting, while archery was a hit with both boys and girls. The feast included pear shaped cupcakes, blackbird pies, fruit platters, collected tax chocolate coins, pigs…

What’s Cooking for Mother’s Day?

Photo by Johnny Miller. Courtesy of Sweet Designs: Bake It Craft It Style It. How is it already Mother’s Day?  As a mom, I’m usually thinking of everyone else’s holidays and often forget when special occasions come up that celebrate me. I’m sure I’m not alone on this one, right? I’m curious what you all do for Mother’s Day? Do you get pampered by your kids and spouse?  Do you find yourself in the kitchen…

Behind the Scenes with Amy Atlas – Back to Baking

By: Amy Atlas, in Amy's Latest, Behind The Scenes
I was back in the kitchen yesterday for a fun, holiday baking editorial project.  My kids were away for the day and it gave me a chance to do some serious testing all day.  Lucky for them, I saved lots of festive treats for them.  There were eggnog cookies with homemade eggnog, peppermint and gingerbread treats, and even a Nutella dessert {more to come on this as the holidays approach}.  With Hurricane Irene on its…

Behind the Book – Photo Shoot & More

Above you’ll see scattered crafts and supplies from Michaels and baking supplies from KitchenAid. I know I was supposed to be on here yesterday with part II of my small business tips, but we had another few days of shooting this week for our book so I’ll get that post up next week.  You all left so many wonderful comments about my tips and I’m so glad that I can be helpful for any…

Back to the Basics: Baking

By: Amy Atlas, in Behind The Scenes
Many people get confused about whether I’m a caterer/baker or a stylist/event planner. I’m really a home baker, but a stylist for my event business. When I first started creating my dessert tables as a hobby at my own parties, I was baking, crafting, sourcing the props, and putting it all together the day of. My friends out there reading this will remember it well because I’d ask them to help out. Well, maybe I…
