It’s Halloweekend Countdown Friday and we have a different spin on Halloween this morning.  We’re starting with a Gorgeously Gothic inspiration board for all of you to get your “Goth On”. You can see how the Goth look is beautiful in fashion on that dramatic dress, in interiors on that luxurious Smoke Chair, and on dessert with that ruffled Maggie Austin Cake. Turn your Closet into Confections: Ruffles!

We’re back with another Turn Your Closet into Confections.  We had our first TYCIC on the last day of fashion week here.  Today we’re exploring ruffles!  Who doesn’t love the romantic, cascading ruffles that we so often see on dresses, collars, and skirts?  We were inspired by the Aire Barcelona wedding dress and Dior ruffled bag, but we bet if you go into your closet you’ll find something with ruffles! You can see how…

Fall for Faux Bois

There is something about the texture and design of a gorgeous wood grain that is so appealing. The french term “faux bois” refers to fake wood and the design has been used on everything from cakes to coasters and candle votives.  We love it for a design for a fall party.  Today is the first day of fall and we are definitely falling for faux bois!  Above are some fun ways you can incorporate…

New Column: Turn Your Closet into Confections

Today at Sweet Designs, we’re starting a new column: Turn Your Closet into Confections.  Since today is the last day of Spring 2012 Fashion Week in New York, we thought it was the perfect time to launch it. Inspired by the beloved former Domino Magazine’s “Turn This Outfit Into A Room” column {best magazine and book ever!}, we will showcase how fashion can be translated into desserts. Since we’re inspired by textiles and fashion in our…

Paint Chip Easter Garland + Easter Giveaway/Pantone Egg Contest

We’ve seen the creative use of paint and pantone chips for many fun projects over the last few years.  It first started with David Stark’s genius idea of using 15,000 paint chips to blanket an entire venue for the American Patrons of Tate Artist’s Dinner {you can take a peek here}.  More recently, we’ve seen pantone treats like these cookies and these cupcakes.  We’ve even seen pantone chip magnets, dishes, and mugs lately.  So…

Fruit and Veggie Table

I know it is rare to see a non-dessert table on this blog, but as soon as I saw this fruit and veggie table by Esther Kim of My Bride Story, I knew I had to share it with you all.  Esther was inspired by our dessert tables and used the same techniques on this healthy spread as we would for a dessert spread.  Like myself, Esther is a mom and is conscious of…
