For The Love of Strawberries Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions, Kids
This pretty party was styled by Vivian at Envy Anvi in Hong Kong for a little girl’s first birthday. Her client wanted a table that was inspired by a Cath Kidston print and her daughter’s love for strawberries. Sweet treats on the dessert table included cupcakes, rice krispie treats, sugar cookies, cake pops and that beautiful cake. Custom made strawberry candies from papabubble were placed in take away jars with the matching labels. We love…

Elegantly Emerald

By: Amy Atlas, in Great Finds
1) Hobnail Pitcher 2) Cake 3) Emerald Dress 4) Judith Leiber Clutch 5) Wine Glass 6) Earrings 7) Living Room It’s official. Pantone announced yesterday that Emerald is the color for 2013.  I’ve always loved emerald, especially since it is my birthstone. The deep color exudes richness. Paired with other dark accent colors like navy, charcoal, or black, it really makes a statement. Think Angelina circa Oscars 2009 when she dressed up her black Elie…

Picnic Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions, Kids
We have seen some fantastic cakes over the years and this one is right up there with some of our favorites. This Teddy Bear picnic party was styled by Clair from Calamity Cakes for her daughter’s birthday party. A gable box for guests included honey sandwiches, fruit, a pink swirly lollipop and “spring” water. All of the sweet treats on the dessert table were made by Clair, which included vanilla cupcakes, honey mousse, trifle, raspberry…

What Inspires Me: Art

By: Amy Atlas, in Amy's Latest, Great Finds
I’ll admit it…I’m having Art Basel envy.  Many of my friends are currently attending Art Basel in Miami, where beautiful art gets revealed each year. I’m staying in NYC for holiday parties, but am still getting an Art Basel fix with a little cyber inspiration. A lot of people ask me what inspires me. The truth is…it is anything and everything. My advice is always to look in unexpected places. Design inspiration can come from…

Medieval Feast Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions, Kids
This creative medieval party was styled by Nicole from Kiddilicious for her son’s 6th birthday. Stone castle walls lined the room and a dining feast fit for a king was created. Guests were greeted with crowns and were ushered off to play medieval games. Pool noodles were used for jousting, while archery was a hit with both boys and girls. The feast included pear shaped cupcakes, blackbird pies, fruit platters, collected tax chocolate coins, pigs…

Darling Doily Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions, Kids
This pretty tea party was styled by Kate of Kiss Me Kate for a client’s daughter’s birthday party. Kate found doilies from second hand shops and hand dyed them in pastel colors. The details on the doilies were subtly brought into the dessert table, including the design on the cookies and the cupcake wrappers. So pretty, right? Sweet treats on the dessert table included a cake, vanilla bean cookies, cake pops, cupcakes, jam tarts, macarons…

Wintry Wonderland Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions, Kids
This wintery wonderland was sent to us by Maureen from Anders Ruff to celebrate their new Winter Wonderland Party Collection with fresh tones of aqua, mint, light blue with pops of red.  The inspiration for the table came to them while imagining a beautiful wintry day, watching the snow fall and get piled up on the window sill. We love all of the signage and the hand sewn birds. Sweet treats on the dessert table…

Sparkler Guest Dessert Table

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions
There are so many elements on this table from Elianne at Elivents in the Netherlands that we love. The unconventional salmon and navy color palette and quatrefoil pattern gives it a fresh look for the holidays. Hanging stars made it feel very festive, too. You can also change the shapes of the stars if you want to create a similar look for Hanukkah. Sweet treats on the dessert table included star and present shaped cakepops,…

Sweet Origins: Sufganiyot for Hanukkah

By: Amy Atlas, in Great Finds, Sweet Origins
The first night of Hanukkah is already this Saturday. My boys are already asking about when they’ll get to taste their Sufganiyot. On Hanukkah, it is a tradition to eat these jelly filled, deep fried doughnuts. It is just one of the fried foods {there are also latkes} that reminds us of the miracle that occurred during the Maccabean Revolt, when oil that was lighting the sacred lamp during the rededication of the holy temple…

We hope you guys had a great weekend. We are starting this week off with a little princess inspiration from Suzanne of Fanciful Events. Suzanne styled this Sleeping Beauty party for her daughter’s birthday party and created a dessert table that mimicked Sleeping Beauty’s dress. Suzanne also brought roses into the design since Sleeping Beauty’s real name is Briar Rose. Sweet treats on the dessert table included rose themed cookies, marshmallows, donuts, Briar Rose chocolate…
