Great Finds: Dana’s Bakery

By: Amy Atlas, in Great Finds

Two weeks ago, I was on the plane coming home to NYC from Atlanta when I sat next to this photographer. Our flight had been cancelled the night before and we were chatting about our plane/scheduling hassles. Before long, I learned he was a talented fashion and street-style photographer {check out above} and he found out about my penchant for sweets. He introduced me to his friend Dana Loia, who recently created Dana’s Bakery.  The next week the most beautiful, delicious and original macarons arrived at our studio. Dana melds the traditional Parisian macaron with an artisanal line of American flavors.  Now…macaron purists would probably argue to leave the macaron alone, right?  After all, there is a reason why the little French delicacy has enjoyed success after all of these years. Well, I dare you not to convert after trying these flavors. Dana subtly brings in American flavors, while still maintaining the delicate macaron cookie that even macaron snobs would approve of.  Fruity Cereal {think Fruity Pebbles}, Thin Mint, Peanut Butter & Jelly, Caramel Popcorn, and Birthday Cake are just a few of the fun flavors she offers. Check out her site here for a full list of flavors. They make a great gift as well!

PS – Did you see this fun use of macarons that we posted about recently?
