Gone Fishin’ Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions, Kids

This “Gone Fishing” party was sent to us by Nicole from Kiddilicious. She knew a fishing themed party for her son’s 8th birthday was inevitable as soon as he caught his first fish. With eight eager fishermen in tow, the crew headed out to Tuki Trout Farm. Nicole borrowed props from fishermen in the area. The little fishers nibbled on witchetty grub lollies, maggots {white jellybeans}, fishing rod pretzel sticks, sweet fish biscuits in sardine tins {our favorite!}, and veggie soup. A beverage dispenser was filled with lake water {cream soda}. Nicole made chocolate mudslide cake push pops and cleverly displayed them in a reed display. The fisherman took home the fish they caught wrapped in newspaper, as well as a bag filled with sour worm lollies. Very clever! Scroll down for the vendor credits.

Wow! I love this! This reminds me of RiverMonsters! I think I might use this idea when having a RiverMonster marathon with my dad. Also, you can use Wonka Sluggles or Wingers Gummies. The Sluggles include grubs, slugs, and worms. The wingers include flying insects. They are yummy too!-Just a thought! Also, this is a good alternative to the cheapy looking fishing parties with swedish fish.(although I love Swedish Fish) Anyways, I really enjoyed it.

  • This is all so great! As the mother of boys, i’m constantly wanting to do ‘cute’ party features for them, but keeping them boyish isn’t always easy!! This has just the right balance of special and boyishness!

Very proud of my sister & the magnificent stylings for parties that she does. Her original ideas are what amazes me in a party world of over done/over kill concepts. Well done from me x
