By: Amy Atlas, in Amy's Latest, Behind The Book, Swag

If you want to Tweet, Pin, or Facebook about this contest, feel free to use this hashtag #amyatlassweetscavengerhunt

DUE TO A WEB CRASH, WE HAD TO MAKE TWO AMENDMENTS. THE AMENDMENTS ONLY PERTAIN TO THE TIME OF SUBMITTING  AND WHERE YOU ARE SUBMITTING YOUR ANSWER.  PLEASE SUBMIT THE ANSWER FRIDAY, APRIL 6TH AT 1PM EST AT [email protected]. ALL OF THE REST OF THE RULES REMAIN THE SAME.

We have a really exciting contest that we are doing tomorrow and I want to tell you all about it now to get you familiar with it early.  We’re doing a VIRTUAL SCAVENGER HUNT on the blog tomorrow so you can hunt down the photos from my Pastel Pretty chapter of Sweet Designs. This is the first time you’ll be seeing multiple photos from one of my chapters and a full shot!  Since I created my Pastel Pretty chapter with Easter and spring entertaining in mind, I thought that a Sweet Scavenger Hunt would be the perfect way for you to “hunt” down these photos!  I picked seven sites/blogs which will be the “hunt” locations. These blogs or “hunt locations” are where you will find these never-seen-before photos. At the times I’ve listed below, you can come here and get a “clue” to find each “hunt” location that is sharing the photo. There will be eight “hunt locations” throughout the day. The bloggers who host the sites are all experts in components that are in my book Sweet Designs (baking, crafting, parties, design/fashion, diy, weddings, and mom’s interests).  KitchenAid has also joined in on the fun and is offering EIGHT 5 quart stand KitchenAid mixers (valued at $349.99 each!)

Scroll down below to learn about all of the rules for this Sweet Scavenger Hunt and to see the KitchenAid mixer…..I’m so excited for you to see a full chapter of photos from Sweet Designs!

PS – If you haven’t bought Sweet Designs, buy it here!  It’s on sale!

Sweet Scavenger Hunt Rules – To Win A KitchenAid Mixer

In order to win a KitchenAid mixer, you must follow all of the following rules.

(1) The clues to find each blog “hunt location” will be on this blog at the following times.

Clue #1 – 9am EST

Clue #2 – 10am EST

Clue #3 – 11:30am EST

Clue #4 – 12pm EST

Clue # 5 – 1pm EST

Clue #6 – 2pm EST

Clue #7 – 3pm EST

(2) At every blog “hunt location” the blogger will give you code words.  By the end of Clue #7 in the hunt, you will have all of the code words and those code words will be a sentence.  You must go to every blog hunt location” to get these code words to piece together the sentence.  You will come back to this blog at 4pm EST (April 5th).  At that time, you will see the full Pastel Pretty photo and you can then add the sentence that you have pulled together using the code words in the comment area of the 4pm EST post that will be here tomorrow.  The comment area will be private and we will be monitoring the contest.

(3) A reader from each blogger’s audience, including mine, will have a chance to win a KitchenAid mixer.  There are eight mixers that are being given away in total. In order to have a chance at winning, you MUST (a) write the full sentence (or sentences) that you have compiled from the code words {some of the words are jumbled up so you’ll have to put them order), AND (2) write which blog you learned about the Scavenger hunt from.  The first person who mentions the sentence from each respective blog hunt location audience will win a KitchenAid mixer. Thus, the eight KitchenAid mixers will go to:

(a) the first person who enters the correct sentence in tomorrow’s (April 5th) 4pm EST post comment area that mentions they came from Clue #1 location.

(b) the first person who enters the correct sentence in tomorrow’s (April 5th) 4pm EST post comment area that mentions they came from Clue #2 location.

(c) the first person who enters the correct sentence in tomorrow’s (April 5th) 4pm EST post comment area that mentions they came from Clue #3 location.

(d) the first person who enters the correct sentence in tomorrow’s (April 5th) 4pm EST post comment area that mentions they came from Clue #4 location.

(e) the first person who enters the correct sentence in tomorrow’s (April 5th) 4pm EST post comment area that mentions they came from Clue #5 location.

(f) the first person who enters the correct sentence in tomorrow’s (April 5th) 4pm EST post comment area that mentions they came from Clue #6 location.

(g) the first person who enters the correct sentence in tomorrow’s (April 5th) 4pm EST post comment area that mentions they came from Clue #7 location.

(h) The eighth KitchenAid mixer will go to the first person who enters the correct sentence in tomorrow’s (April 5th) 4pm EST post comment area that mentions they came from Sweet Designs.

The concept is that each blog hunt location’s audience will have one of their reader’s who wins a KitchenAid mixer.  “Came from” means the blog hunt location where you learned about the Scavenger hunt.

(4) Other terms- (a) Punctuation does NOT matter, (b) “Code Words” are the codes that you find on at each blog location.

(5) Do NOT write the answer in the blog hunt locations comment areas.  The only comments that will be considered for purposes of this hunt are the comments that are in tomorrow’s 4pm EST blog post on this blog.

(6)You may only enter one location where you learned about the Scavenger Hunt.  If you write the sentence in the comment area and enter multiple times mentioning that you came from separate blog hunt locations, you will be disqualified. Please state where you learned about the Scavenger Hunt, rather than simply writing the last blog location that you visited at the end of the contest (unless you learned of the scavenger hunt at that last blog location).

(7) Only one person per household is allowed to enter this Scavenger Hunt.

(8) We will only be accepting comments for this Scavenger Hunt up until Thursday, April 5th at 11pm EST.  However, if it takes longer to reach a winner based on #3 above, the contest will be extended for another 24 hours.

(9) The giveaway is only available for United States residents.  However, Hyperion Books is giving away one advance signed copy of the book to the first international reader who completes the correct sentence (as per the rules above) and posts it in our 4pm EST post today (April 5th).

(9) KitchenAid and Amy Atlas Events, LLC reserve the right to cancel this contest at any time.

this sound way too complicated to me.
you may also want to make sure this is a legal contest. Many states have different laws for contests. Sweepstakes/lotteries are different than contests http://www.socialmediaexaminer.com/social-media-promotions-and-the-law-what-you-need-to-know/

Rachel – We had to be very specific about the rules so unfortunately it is somewhat complicated. Thanks for sharing that article, and we are aware of the differences between contests, sweepstakes, and lotteries. We always do our contests based on skill. Our lawyer looked at this contest and and it is a game of “skill” because people have to navigate through different sites, put the words together, etc. Thank you very much, though.

Ditto. Way too confusing for me! Good luck to the players!! The KitchenAid is beautiful!

  • Annonymous

This is a great giveaway, but the rules are terrible. Awfully confusing. I hope someone is able to figure this mess out and win – I won’t even attempt because I don’t know what you’re trying to say. Sorry, again, a great giveaway – just poorly executed “game”

Is this where I leave my comment to enter the clues?

Hi..I’m a bit confused :) Are we only allowed to enter ONE comment (with blog hunt location and sentence) on this blog? Or can we enter a comment for EACH blog hunt location and sentence that we have been to?

  • Kristin

    Looks awesome! How fun. :)
