lisablog Getting To Know Our Team: Commander in Sweets Lisa

In an effort for you to get to know us a little bit better, we have shared with you interviews with Natalie, Jo and Arisara. I almost can’t believe that I haven’t introduced you to our Commander in Sweets Lisa. For those of you who do not know Lisa already, she is my right hand gal. After being in the music industry for over 15 years, Lisa joined our team part time over 3 years ago and then came on board full time last year. And thank goodness she did. She’s a Jill of All Trades and an amazing person to work with side-by-side as we grow the business. What’s better is we instantly connected and she’s one of my closest friends.Whether we’re traveling, working late nights, giving presentations, or dealing with every day business, we have FUN together.  So come meet my Commander in Sweets….

WHAT IS YOUR ROLE AT AAE:

I wear many hats at AAE. Amongst other things, I handle all of the finances and human resources, review featured submissions and consultation forms, work on proposals for clients and assist Amy with the styling for parties and photo shoots.

WHAT BROUGHT YOU TO AAE:

One word….AMY. We had a mutual friend who turned me on to her website. I was so inspired by the creativity and artistry in her work that I basically begged her to let me be a part of her team.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SWEET:

Peanut M&M’s and, most recently, Reeses Pieces.

WHAT HAS BEEN THE MOST CHALLENGING THING ABOUT WORKING IN THE CREATIVE FIELD

Working in a creative field! My brain was just not wired that way. I was never comfortable creatively and always loved working with numbers. I basically had to learn a brand new industry and try to learn about design in a short period of time. Luckily, I had a great teacher.

WHAT WAS YOUR MOST INSPIRING EXPERIENCE AT AAE

There have been many. Creatively, I would have to say the tables that we created for a wedding in Carmel, California. The location was stunning and the tables were incredibly beautiful.  Emotionally, the table that we created for the kids at The Ronald McDonald House. These children are going through unimaginable things and had smiles on their faces that lit up the room.

EXPLAIN COMMANDER IN SWEETS

America has a “Commander in Chief”..Amy Atlas Events has a “Commander in Sweets”.

WHAT HAS BEEN THE BEST PART OF BEING PART OF THE AAE TEAM:

Before I started working with Amy, I did not even know what a blog was. I have learned so much and have completely fallen in love with design. Also, seeing a book through from conception to delivery has been one of the most exciting things that I have ever been a part of.

    hi Lisa!!
Very inspiring intro!! It goes to show all you need is the desire to learn
design and the rest follows, you don’t have to be innately gifted with it!
