By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions, Kids
This fall feast was sent to us by Cris from Crissy Crafts. She threw a small Thanksgiving get together for her children and their friends. In Chris’ native Brazil, corn is a big part of celebrations. To embrace her heritage, “corn” was part of many of the sweets and decorations. Corn husks were used to dress up the water bottles and as a vessel to serve the food. Sweet treats included caramel and kernel popcorn,…

Shabby Chic Cookie Buffet Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions
This beautiful party was sent to us by Sarah from Princess Allure Accessories. She created a cookie buffet for a bride who wanted a romantic themed table with shabby chic elements. The bride was Chinese and the Groom was French so Sarah incorporated both of their cultures. Light pink macarons with white chocolate ganache filling with a “Je Taime” sign was a nod towards the groom’s heritage. Fortune cookies and round cookies stenciled with the…

Miss Piggy Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions, Kids
There is a big Muppet resurgence with the movie coming out this month. I must confess, I was a big Muppets fan. I always watched The Muppet Show with amusement as the puppets came to life. My favorite, of course, was the always glamourous and posh, Miss Piggy. When this submission from Lynlee at Lynlee’s Petite Cakes popped up in our inbox, it made us all smile. Lynlee created this party for her Grandmother.  In…

This Faux-Bois designed dessert table was sent to us by Jennifer at Honeycomb Events. She created this table for a second time mom who wanted the gender of the baby to be a surprise. Jennifer kept the palette neutral and designed a chic owl illustration for the custom printables to embrace the fall season. The Faux-Bois pattern gave the table a woodsy feel with lots of charm. Jennifer also used burlap to cover the table…

She decided on a “M is for Maalik”  theme and baked all of the yummy desserts that are displayed. Around the Atlas: Ireland

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions, Kids
We received this “Around the Atlas” from Flavia in Ireland.  Flavia created this cute car party for her son’s 2nd birthday. Flavia created a table that was full of vibrant colors reminiscent of her Brazilian heritage, despite the limited suppliers in Ireland. I always say inspiration can be found everywhere. Flavia found the inspiration for the orange and turquoise color palette from a Gap shirt that she bought for her son to wear. She created…

This houndstooth puppy “paw”ty was created by Lauren Bender for her daughter’s 7th birthday. They washed down their meals with “toilet water.” Sweet treats included pupcakes (how cute are they?), lollipups and peppermint “bark”.  The girls adopted their own stuffed puppy…

Sweet Love Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions
We received this royal wedding submission from Lori at The Cakestress.  Not only did Lori style this table, she made all of the desserts. The five tier banana split cake was inspired by the Bride’s Amsale “Dahlia” Gown. One of the things that we loved about this table was how Lori found everyday items and transformed them into staging pieces. She purchased all of the frames from Ikea {and how great is the creative use…

Potty Like a Rockstar Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions, Kids
We received this submission from Mindy at Get Creative Juice and almost fell off our seats! In Mindy’s quest to potty train her daughter, she came across a philosophy to “potty train in a day”. Part of the advice was to “throw the child a potty party”.  We think she took that to a whole new level. She invited all of her daughter’s friends over who were “in training” & their personal trainers (their moms)…

There are so many things we love about Brazil, the fifth largest country in the world. The year round tropical climate, the colorful culture of its people and, of course, Carnival! I was there right before I had my first son and had a wonderful time in Rio de Janeiro and Iguassu Falls.  This “Around the Atlas” came from Marianna and Juanna from OBBA Paperia. They created this dessert table for a fashion show at…
