Superhero Guest Dessert Feature

It’s a bird, It’s a plane…it’s a super cute party for a little boy’s 6th birthday. We received this Superhero party from Thetis at Little Sooti down under. Bold colors and strong graphics in the printables set the tone for the party. Kids were entertained by Batman and  a life size telephone booth that Thetis made from a refrigerator box. Leoni from Just Call Me Martha created the cake, cupcakes and cookies.  Other sweet treats…

Whimsical Tea Party Guest Dessert Feature

We are loving this whimsical tea birthday party that was sent to us by Rachel of Rachel Richter Photography for a special four year old. We love the cherry blossom theme and the soft color palette. Isn’t that location breathtaking? Sweet treats included cupcakes, home baked gingerbread men, fresh strawberries and fairy bread. After the guests enjoyed their tea and treats, they flew around the forest sprinkling fairy dust everywhere. We think this is so…

Amy Atlas Moment: Saddle Up

Last month we featured this cowgirl party. Today, we are all boy with this Amy Atlas moment that came

created everything from the invitations, bunting and table signage to the chocolate on a stick and amazing cake (we love!). Also, with the help of her husband, they built “Ethan’s Saloon”. After a barbecue feast, guests …

Yellow & Grey Bridal Shower Guest Dessert Feature

This bridal shower came to us from Linley at Lux Events & Designs. The yellow and grey color palette and use of doilies was trendy this past year and looks pretty in this party.  Linley used mason jars and vintage picture frames to give the party a vintage feel. Guests sipped on mimosas and dined on fresh baked quiche, strawberry salad and fresh fruit. Sweet treats included espresso cupcakes, pie on a stick and red…

Wizard of Oz Guest Feature Part III: Props

We’re back with a feature of the props used in The Wizard of Oz Post.  This morning we featured the tablescapes and the desserts. We love the vintage signs and props like “There’s No Place Like Home” and “Follow the Yellow Brick Road”. We also love the wooden slabs that Karen used for the placemats, as well as the hot air balloons and party hats. Both adults and kids had fun with the “If I…

We are back with the desserts from Karen Ayars’ Wizard of Oz submission. This morning we posted all of the different tablescapes at the party. Karen wanted food and desserts to remind her guests that “there’s no place like home”. The guests had comfort food like chicken pot pie, corn on the cob, southern pulled pork and fried chicken. Wizard of Oz Guest Dessert Features: Tables

We receive a lot of Wizard of Oz inspired submissions. This one was executed so perfectly that we decided to break it up into three parts.  The tables, the desserts and the props.  First up is the tables. We received this submission from Karen Ayars who styled it for her daughter’s third birthday. She wanted to go with a vintage feel to pay homage to the original movie. There were three tables, two for desserts…

Ask Amy: Importance of Photography

By: Amy, in Ask Amy

Raychel:
I am just starting out trying to start an event planning business. I obviously love to plan and design parties and events, but also am doing this to make money and hopefully one day be able to support my family. With that said I do not have funds to create lavish or perfect outcomes when I do a party for myself or a family member and that means that photos I take (especially since…

Goldfish Guest Dessert Feature

Karolina from Karos Fun Land styled this fun goldfish party for her son Daniel’s 2nd birthday. She started with the cute goldfish printables she found from Bee and Daisy and coordinated all the decor around them. Karolina did all of the fondant work herself on the cake and sweet treats which included goldfish sugar cookies, oreo pops, cupcakes and rice krispie treats. The color palette is perfect for the theme. We love the way she…

What A Journey Guest Dessert Feature

Elissa wanted to use the theme “What a Journey” because she felt the first year is a journey for both parents and child. Elissa included maps and globes for props. The aqua and yellow color palette is very airy and can almost transport you to a tropical island. Sweet treats included mini fruit pizzas,

No Place Like “Gnome” Guest Dessert Feature

This cute little… Gnome party was sent to us by Nicole of Tradewinds and Tiaras. She created this party for her friend’s daughter’s birthday. As a child, Nicole loved the book Gnomes by Wil Huygen. When Nicole saw that another edition was just released, she knew this was the theme she wanted to go with. The rich fall hues of red and yellow felt like the obvious choice. To add to the miniature theme, Nicole

Halloweekend Countdown: Wickedly Wizard

We received this featured wizardly Harry Potter submission from Katie at Petit Social and thought it would so fun for a haunted halloween party.  Katie styled this table for a little boy’s 7th birthday. Katie used dark blues, yellows and greys to give the table a vintage feel. To make the table spooky, creepy elements like owls, spiders, rats, cauldrons, and test tubes were used. Wizardly treats included items like wizard’s teeth, magical wands cauldron…

Halloweekend Countdown: Bat Scary!

This trick or treat themed party was sent to us by Dorangela of Two Prince Bakery Theatre. All of the desserts are entirely gluten free, casein free, soy free and nut free. Both of Dorangela’s sons have severe allergies so it has become her passion to come up with allergen free desserts. Dorangela headed back to the basics using an orange and black palette. She then added a hint of grey. The allergen free menu…

Halloweekend Countdown: Counting Crows

Nicolle from Libby Lane Press sent us this Birds of Feather shoot that she styled to showcase her new printables line and we loved the unique twist on a halloween theme. Those little crows look so ominous, we love it. Nicolle’s inspiration came from feather trees that she found at Home Goods. She loved the purple and black palette and knew she wanted to make them the focal point of the table. She called on…

Somewhere Over the Rainbow Guest Dessert Feature

It is a rainy day in New York City today and this put a little sunshine into our day. We have seen many rainbow submissions this year. This one came to us from Simone at Invite Me. Simone styled the party for her daughter’s 4th birthday. The party was planned for outdoors and true to the theme, the skies opened and it started to pour. Simone had to scramble to get everything inside and managed…

Ask Amy: Should I Stay or Should I Go?

By: Amy, in Ask Amy

Chyna:
When you style a dessert table, do you stay there for the whole duration of the event, no matter how long it is?
Amy:
I’m always there for the set up, and for some reason clients are still surprised by this.  Often because of the installation requirements, we’ll have to start the initial set up like the backdrop, florals, and vessels well before the event starts so that we don’t interfere with guests.  …

Matryoshka Doll Guest Dessert Feature

Do you remember playing with Matryoshka Dolls {also called Babushka dolls} when you were little?  I do.  My grandmother bought me one and I was so amazed each time I found yet another little wooden doll hidden inside a bigger one. How so many could fit in there was fascinating to me. It always brings me back to those memories when I see a Matryoshka Doll guest feature.  You may remember we featured this one…
