Burlap and blue…we love that combination for boys. We received this submission from Amanda from The Kawaii Notebook. She created this party for her son’s first birthday. Amanda decided on a vintage tricycle theme after finding inspiration from a cute printable package that she found on Style Me Gorgeous. Finding props proved to be almost as much fun as planning the party. Amanda bounced around to vintage flee markets and found great items on Sharnell Dollar Designs and Sweet Style. She employed some sweet styling tricks that I always mention. First, plain boxes were covered in brown wrapping paper. This is an easy and inexpensive way to give height to your treats. We also love using unexpected items as vessels. For this party, pedestals and books were transformed into great styling pieces. Miniature tricycles were strategically placed throughout the tables as were kites and vintage metal jacks. We love the simplistic feel of the cake and how the kite and string are small in detail but huge in impact. Sweet treats included cookies, cupcakes, chocolate covered marshmallows and candy. Guests were given wooden yoyo’s and spinning tops in a personalised muslin bag as a parting gift and milk and cookies for the ride home.
