Citrus Sweet Shoppe Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions, Kids
It is so warm and humid out in NYC  it almost feels like Florida today. So much for tomorrow being the first day of fall! The citrus palette in this feature by Debbie of Sugar Plum Designs fits perfectly with the weather. Debbie created this table for a birthday girl whose favorite colors are orange & green. The table is symmetrical which helps to give a table with lots of color and pattern a refined…

Cowgirl Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Kids
How cute is this vintage cowgirl guest dessert feature?  This party was created by Melissa of The Larson Lingo for her daughter Claire’s birthday. Melissa brought in bales of hay to turn her own backyard into a western wonderland. We love all of the western cowgirl phrases like “Get Your Grub On” and “Get Your Mug Taken” on the signage. We also love the hanging cowboy hats, burlap sacks, and candy-filled wood berry baskets. The…

Amy Atlas Moment: Butterflies and Bird Cages

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions, Kids
This sweet Amy Atlas Moment was sent to us by Ryan Aquino.  We LOVE the fact that we finally received a submission from a man!  Ryan is an Art Director and mentioned in his submission that he has “no experience in party planning”. When his sister-in-law asked him for help in planning a butterfly tea party for his sweet little niece, how could he say no? After a little research, he happened upon our dessert…

A Collection for a Cure Guest Feature {+ Free Printables to Promote Awareness}

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions
On Sunday, my sons and I were strolling through Central Park and saw hundreds of people running in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. For those who don’t know, the Susan G. Komen Foundation was started by Susan’s younger sister Nancy G. Brinker. Susan was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1977 at the age of 33 years old.  As Susan was losing her battle with cancer, she realized she didn’t know enough about…

Pink and Orange Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions
Amy of One Divine Party sent over this fun bright pink and orange party. Amy created this party for one of her closest friend’s wedding and wanted it to be personal.  The combination of the bright colors and textures balanced by the burlap gave this table a mixed media vibe.  Since the bride loves cotton candy, Amy created cotton candy topiaries. Warning – we’ve made these before and you do have to be very careful…

Amy’s Cookbook Finds: Sweet Confections {+Giveaway!}

By: Amy Atlas, in Great Finds, Recipes, Swag
I think you all know by now that I have a slight obsession with cookbooks.  My husband and I laugh sometimes that cookbooks are to me what shoes were to Carrie Bradshaw, and that our home is slowly but surely being invaded by cookbooks. My collection rivals the Barnes and Noble cookbook section. While I read many books online now, there is something about flipping through the pages of a cookbook that I’ll never tire…

Pan Am Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions
Be prepared for a party that is soaring new heights of creativity!  This very clever Pan Am feature is timely, as ABC is about to premiere their new show Pan Am. Lynlee of Lynlee’s Petite Cakes created this table for her mother, who worked for Pan Am. Lynlee created a Flight Status Happy Birthday board for the backdrop, and connected the flight theme with props like Pan Am mini luggage bags, airplanes and globes.  …

Natalie somehow stumbled upon the website Ava’s Tea Party and felt compelled to do something. Ava was a little 3 year old princess who tragically died way too soon.  You can read her story here...but again…warning…get the tissues.  Ava and her mother always talked about having…

Around the “Atlas”: Guatemala

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions
It is always amazing to me to see how far our inspiration reaches. It is exciting and humbling at the same time. This feature came all the way from Guatemala. We love the fact that the dessert table trend has made its way over to Central America, and that we get to share these dessert tables from Around the Atlas.  Hans from Wunderkeks (German for wonder cookies) created this table for the launch of…

Dinosaur Themed Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions, Kids
We fell in love with the adorable dinosaur on top of these cupcakes and had to share. How cute is he? This party came to us from Renee & Alex of The Inspired Occasion.  They created this party for a little boy’s 4th birthday.  The little boy’s mom wanted a party that reflected her son’s love for dinosaurs, but did not want the party to be to cutesy.  To achieve that goal, Renee and Alex…

Halloween Friday

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions, Kids
It is hard to believe that Halloween is only 6 weeks away. It has always been one of my favorite holidays, and I love it even more now that I have kids. My boys and I snuggle in bed and go through countless ideas of what we are all going to be. There is something about dressing up and being somebody else for the day (or hour) that makes you feel like a kid again.…

Black & White Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions
What’s black & white and fuchsia and teal all over?  This table that was sent to us by Lillian from Lily Chic Events. With the help of Leoni from Just Call Me Martha, they created this table that was inspired by the summer wedding season in Australia. The black and white makes the event formal, but the pops of color give it a youthful vibe.  That spectacular two tiered cake was definitely the…

Susana: Amy, I love all your tips.  When you are asked to do something that is clearly not your sensibility, do you do it and…
