The summery, fresh orange and white palette from our creamsicle post yesterday reminded us that we hadn’t posted this orange and white party that we created earlier this year for one of our clients. There is something about an orange and white palette that feels so refreshing, right? Lush, citrus arrangements filled with garden roses, tulips, clementines, and blackberries gave the table a romantic vibe. What is your favorite color palette for the summer?…

Angela of Queen of Tarts made this really cute fire truck themed table for her son’s 3rd birthday party. She was inspired by a fire truck invitation from Dimple Prints. To make the table feel more youthful, Angela brought in ticking stripes, oversized dots, and the pop of aqua color into the design. Desserts included a firetruck cake that Angela made {which was Valrhona chocolate, with Tahitian Vanilla buttercream and covered in Marshmallow fondant…

Who doesn’t love cheesecake? A dense, rich, creamy slice of sweet cake, topped with a fresh fruit sauce, chocolate or nuts. If you held a popularity contest for desserts, cheesecake would be the captain of the cheerleading squad– it would win every time. To honor National Cheesecake Day, which is tomorrow, we’re giving you the “Sweet Origins” of one of America’s favorite desserts.…

As you may have learned, we are slaves to fashion. We also love summer and laying poolside. This post brought the two together. Shawna from Pretend Party & Play created this Lilly Pulitzer Poolside Party for her 6 year old daughter’s birthday. Shawna was inspired by the beautiful colors in Lilly’s designs and her book “Essentially Lilly: A Guide to Colorful Entertaining”. It was a pool party that was filled with sun, fun and…

Jenni from the blog Crossing the Bugger – Dixon Line sent us photos of her “Amy Atlas Moment.” and we had to share. Jenni created this party for her son’s birthday. This table is so original! From the white fluffy clouds in the watering cans to the wellies lined up as a centerpiece for the kid’s table, Jenni did a great job of bringing this theme together. Desserts included rain boot and fluffy cloud…

Creamsicles. Is there anything more creamy and refreshing on a hot and sticky summer day? The chilly orange ice coating with vanilla ice cream filling is usually seen in the popsicle form, like the first ones created here. We were surprised to find very few variations of this beloved treat so we decided to dream up our own version with a Creamsicle Trifle. Grand Marnier-soaked lady fingers are sandwiched between layers of orange sherbet…

When Lisa saw this submission, she immediately started singing “Come Sail Away” by Styx! It seemed like the perfect name for this submission. Sent in by Renee from The Inspired Occasion, this party was created for Renee’s partner Alex’s son’s birthday (his 4th) and Renee’s sister’s birthday (her 24th). They wanted a color palette and theme that would work for both adult and children shipmates. The nautical theme with its red white & blue color…

Everyone was buzzing in the AAE office when we saw this post come in from Suzi Waters of Alannah Rose. We have featured Suzi’s daughter Alannah’s 5th and 6th birthday parties here and here. After the buzz of her party last year, Suzi created a Busy Bee themed party for her daughter Ella’s 5th birthday, inspired by her Buzz Buzz Bee Invitations. We created a bee table for our book that has some similar elements…

We are loving the vibrant colors of this submission that we received from Julie at Blue Cupcake. Julie created this table for her little girl’s 5th birthday celebration. Her daughter’s only request was…..pies and ice cream. No theme, just all the sweet treats that she wanted. How could Julie say no to that?? She transformed the front of one of her favorite indoor places, The Coop, to a beautiful dessert display. We love…

I’m back with Part II of the behind the scenes at the Creative Crew Michaels event. If you missed Part I, definitely check it out here. You may recall that on our first night we did some fun felting projects and had dinner with the Michaels crew. The second day was all about learning more about the team behind the Michaels brand. First up were some informative sessions from their executives. Some of the topics…

We thought this post was C’est Magnifique! Leoni from Just Call Me Martha of Australia sent us her “Paris in winter luncheon” that she created for her daughter’s 11th birthday. Leoni’s daughter loves Paris (especially the Eiffel Tower) and begged her for a Paris theme. To make the party stand out, she gave it a modern twist with a red and blue striped theme. Most of the elements of the party were handmade and…

We love this feature. This submission was sent to us by Susana of citrusandorange in Portugal. We’ve featured Susana before here and here. She created this table for her daughter’s 9th birthday party. Deciding on the color palette at the last minute, she browsed Sweet Designs for a little inspiration. Susana knew that she wanted peonies on her table but could not find them in Portugal this time year. She enlisted Diane of DK…
