Ronald McDonald House/Icing Smiles Event – Seeking Volunteers

By: Amy Atlas, in Amy's Latest

We’re working on a special event with Icing Smiles and the Ronald McDonald House this month.  Do you remember when I first told you all about Icing Smiles here?  Icing Smiles is a non profit organization that provides custom celebration cakes and other treats to families impacted by critical illness of a child.  Right before Mother’s Day, we’re going to create a special dessert table to honor the moms, families, and kids on April 28th in New York City. We’re looking for some volunteers to help with the event.  Below are the specific skills we’re interested in. We are extremely thankful to anyone who offers to volunteer their services. That said, we’ll only be able to take a limited number of volunteers for the event.  In the case that we can’t use your services this round, there will likely be more events to volunteer for in the future. Volunteers will work with me {and the Amy Atlas team} directly on details for the event.  See below for volunteer requirements.

(1) Bakers who can create desserts from a licensed kitchen.  Volunteers must show proof that they are baking in a licensed kitchen.

(2) Candy purveyors who can donate candy that is created in a licensed kitchen.  Volunteers must show proof that candy is produced in a licensed kitchen.

(3)  An event coordinator volunteer/intern to assist our crew.  This is a busy month for us so we’ll need some extra help. Event experience preferred.  Please state your experience in email. For all who have emailed to shadow us, this is your chance to join in!

Volunteers: Please email your qualifications and how you would like to contribute to [email protected] Please entitle the subject line in the email: “Ronald McDonald/Icing Smiles Event.”

This will be a great chance to honor families who have had a very tough year.  Thank you, in advance, for participating!

I would love to donate candy purchased from Candy Warehouse,Etc.

  • My daughter was lucky enough to have benefited from this wonderful organization with a beautiful cake made by a wonderful volunteer baker. It turns out the baker was nationally known and Larkin’s cake was more than we could have ever hoped for. Icing Smiles does an incredible job at making children with life threatening or severe medical needs feel special! They even make cakes for the siblings of these kiddo’s since sometimes the focus is on the child with the medical needs. My deepest gratitude goes to all the volunteers and most of all to Icing Smiles for making all of this happen.

As for the Ronald McDonald House…kuddo’s for all they do as well. Many families are in the hospital for weeks and sometimes months with their children and it is a nice place to take a shower, grab a meal and take a nap or just sleep for the night! Wonderful!!!!!
