Since sweets are a big part of my world, I am always researching different confections. I am fascinated about the origins of the confections that we use on our tables. Today, I’m sharing with you the “sweet origins” of fudge. You may remember our Sweet Journey to Atlantic City last summer, when we sampled several varieties of fudge. The fudge on the boardwalk was to.die.for. and enough to get me interested in the the origins…

Lindi Haws of Love The Day sent us photos from a 50′s Diner Cherry Party photo shoot she created for her new retro cherry printable collection. Lindi had the shoot in a real diner, which is the perfect backdrop for a 50′s party. While playing tunes on the jukebox, kids snacked on grilled cheese sandwiches, hamburgers, milkshakes, and then a cherry themed dessert bar. Desserts on the dessert bar included a 7up cherry cake, cupcakes with cherry cupcake toppers,…

I know I talked about the table we are creating for the Ronald McDonald House in conjunction with Icing Smiles and The Pinwheel Project. We stopped by The Ronald McDonald House on Thursday and we were so touched by the families. The kids and parents are so strong, and I couldn’t help but think what it is like to be in those shoes since there were kids there my kids age. It was very…

We have had a lot of Easter inspiration this week, and here is one more in case you need some last minute ideas for the holiday. This guest feature is from Coby of The Lemony Cupcake. Coby created a two tier Bailey’s Chocolate Mud Cake {how good does that sound?}, chocolate Easter cupcakes with fondant nests and speckled eggs, lemon meringue and caramel tarts, and mint speckled eggs. This looks like the perfect way to ring…

We’ve shown a lot of traditional pastel Easter decor on the blog this week, so we’re giving you a taste of some earthy, rustic Easter decor with this feature from Marcie of Celebrating Moments. Marcie enlisted Whatever Whimsy to create the lovely sweets like the chocolate bird pops, nest cupcakes, bird cookies, and bird cake. The color palette is subdued and unexpected for this time of year, but a nice surprise. Very pretty job, Marcie!…

We’re continuing our shabby chic features this week {be sure to check out earlier posts if you have missed} and the next one up is a shabby chic breakfast submitted from Margherita of Le Chat de Sucre in Florence, Italy. Margherita was inspired by early spring wildflowers, and she included recipes infused with lavender flowers, rose water and essence of violet. All of the food was prepared following old country recipes. We love the limonata…

We have more Easter guest features for you today. Yesterday, we featured a couple here and here. This latest one is from Suzanna of Mon Tresor and Vesna of My Little Jedi. I love the “nest” meringues topped with persian pistachio cotton candy and speckled jordan almonds. I also love how Suzanna and Vesna layered crepe paper runners to create a gingham design on the side table. On the side table were baskets of eggs filled…

This morning we shared this pretty shabby chic table, and since we’ve been getting a ton of shabby chic Easter tables in our inbox, we’re sharing some more. This one is from Jenny of Jenny Cookies. Jenny’s party setup was initially inside because it was raining, but she quickly moved it outside when it stopped raining. The table looks great in both settings. Jenny made Easter egg cookies, bunny cookie cupcakes, Easter egg nest treats,…

We have a few shabby chic guest features to share with you this week. Since the colors commonly found in shabby chic displays are muted, we think they work wonderfully for spring and Easter occasions. First up is Heather of Heather Equitz Designs. Heather’s mother collects pre-war lace and she incorporated some of the lace on the table. Heather made a beautiful runner out of a pair of drapes she found at Big…

We’re starting a new series today called “Five Borough Friday.” On select Fridays, we will explore a different borough of this amazing city we call home and hopefully give you a little flavor of each of the boroughs. First stop…. Staten Island. Our crew hopped on the Staten Island Ferry and headed over to meet husband-wife team James {also known as the “Cake Chef”} and Maria Carrozza, who co-own The Cake Chef and The Cookie…

It is a beautiful day in NYC today. I am finally starting to feel like Spring is here. Heather and Jason from Hello My Sweet sent us this cheerful submission that just put a smile on my face! The table was designed for a birthday party for their nephew and, of course, the Easter holiday. This table is a terrific representation of how “Less is More” and how you can find inspiration anywhere. Their…

It is time to reveal the winner of our Pantone-Inspired Egg Contest! When I initially thought of this contest, I envisioned that the eggs would be painted to look like pantone chips {like the mediums in the links here}. It turns out there were many amazing interpretations for this contest. Some contestants cut actual pantone or paint…
