Chic Coastal Guest Dessert Feature

By: Amy Atlas, in Featured Submissions

We’re kicking off a guest dessert feature marathon and first on the list today is Sharnel of Sharnel Dollar Designs from Brisbane, Australia.  Sharnel was one of the first guest features that I ever posted over a year ago.  You can see past guest features here and here.  Sharnel always rocks her designs, but do you want to know why I was drawn to this table in particular?  I used that very same Ralph Lauren Great Harbor white wallpaper that Sharnel used as the backdrop for my own son’s room {see pic below of how I used it to cover panels of his closet}.  Sharnel emailed me and told me that this wallpaper is in her son’s room as well!  This reveals that you can use different mediums of design {wallpaper in your kid’s room} to inspire a dessert table or event design.

A little about the table…it turns out the coastal chic wallpaper was the perfect backdrop for this table because Sharnel created it for a yachtsman’s 50th birthday party.  I love the lighthouse lanterns, the compass cookies, and all of those drool-worthy desserts.  Sticky date pudding and macadamia chocolate and caramel cones…whoa, those look good!   Okay, one thing I want to point out…look at how pristine the linen looks.  That is how a beautiful cloth for your dessert table should always look.  It looks perfectly ironed, which is tough enough when you are using linen, like Sharnel used here.  AMAZING job, Sharnel!

Here is my son’s room when we first started decorating {it looks so sparse now!} and you can see the Great Harbor White wallpaper on the closet panels.
