I’m here today with our back-to-school bake sale ideas we created for Parents Magazine.  If you were here yesterday, then you were able to see a peek of us on set at the shoot.  We worked with the editors at Parents Magazine to create the story, developed recipes, and did all the prop and food styling for the story.  The ideas in this story are completely approachable for even the non-savvy baker or crafter. Since the busy schedule of being a mom doesn’t allow for so much time to bake and craft, all of the desserts were semi-homemade,  The recipes are five steps or less, and some even use cake box mix for recipe shortcuts.  All crafting materials were items like scrap book paper and construction paper that you can buy in basic craft stores such as Michael’s and Joann’s.  We used school supplies like composition books, lunch boxes, school trays, and cardboard letters painted with chalkboard paint for props.  I will be back later in the week for more diy tips from this story.  I’ll also be hosting a great bake sale recipe card giveaway from Wiley Valentine.  Wouldn’t it be great for moms to share their bake sale recipes?  I think it would and this giveaway will be perfect for that.  In the meantime, I hope this gives you some inspiration as you all start planning your school bake sales.  Also, definitely pick up a copy of October’s Parents Magazine.  Their are lots of great back-to-school tips in the issue!

    Hi amy
I wanted to ask when do you present the dessert table, at the beginning of the event? and if you do… is it o.k for the cakes and sweets to be outside for so long?
or do you wait for the “desert time”? and if you do… how do you do it if the people are already in the room?
    I would love some answers…
I have the same question about outdoor party…
    thank you michelle
