New Halloween Ticings Edible Sheets + Giveaway

Remember when I first introduced Ticings, the company with edible icing sheets, last year here?  Well, today Ticings is launching a fun Halloween collection just in time for Halloween planning and they shared it with us first.  I adore these new cobweb, owl, “bite me” and “boo” designs. These are perfect for the at-home baker who is a little intimidated to experiment with Halloween decorating.  But don’t think these are just for novice bakers, I have…

No Carve Pumpkin Decorating Ideas

Yes, I know Halloween is still a month away, but I’m a sweets and styling gal, so I get pretty excited about Halloween!   I’m working on some Halloween projects and stumbled upon these no-carve pumpkin decorating ideas.  Truthfully, pumpkin carving was never one of my favorite holiday activities.  Yes, I admitted it.  I tackle pumpkin carving every year with my sons and even do a kid’s version with their kid-friendly carving kit, but…

Ikea’s Brilliant Styling + Baking Book

I’m sure many of you have seen these incredible images from Ikea’s new baking book, Homemade is Best, but the images by Carl Kleiner and styling by Evalina Bratell are too brilliant not to post.   I saw Smitten Kitchen’s tweet about it and have been drooling ever since.  I love out-of-the-box styling ideas and this clever way of showcasing a recipe’s ingredients is nothing short of genius.  The deconstructed recipes make me want…

Vases for Halloween from Urban Butik

By: Amy, in Great Finds
While at the gift show last month, I saw some beautiful vessels from Urban Butik.  I think these Omaggio orange striped vases are beautiful and are perfect for Halloween.  They also come in black and white stripes in a whole host of sizes here.  Fill these vases up with mums or lilies for a fun Halloween centerpiece.  Check out other great products on the Urban Butik website here.  I hope you are all getting into the…

Pink-O-Ween! Guest Dessert Feature

Scroll down for fun Halloween news from us! It’s hard to believe, but Halloween is around the corner already.  We’ve been getting some cute Halloween submissions and I love this glammed up PINK Halloween dessert table from Courtney of Pizzazzerie. I’m always a believer of surprising your guests with an unexpected color palette.  I think this is especially fun for holidays when your guests will expect to see the traditional color palette.  Courtney added a…

Camp Out Guest Dessert Feature

It’s starting to get cooler in NYC and it is the last opportunity here to go on a camp out before it gets too cold.  Jeannie of Cakes by Jeannie sent over these pictures of her family reunion camp out held in Washington State Park, Missouri and I’m just loving all of the details.  Jeannie and her parents, six siblings {and now their 15 kids!} spent a weekend at their cabin enjoying nature and plenty of…

Being Content

By: Amy, in Ask Amy
I’ve had some time off with the Jewish holidays and it has given me an opportunity to reflect (no, I was not on the beach in the above picture, although it does look pretty dreamy).  I was away from the computer, blackberry, iphone, texting, etc. for a few days and it allowed me to actually enjoy my time off from work.  This is not so easy for me. I’ve always had enormous drive.  Actually,…

Shopping for Dessert Platters with The New York Times

It’s definitely a pinch-me-moment kind of day.  Unless there are styling tips included in the article, I normally don’t bore you all with my press.  But indulge me for today, because I’m a little over the moon to be featured in The New York Times today. I shopped around town with the New York Times a few weeks ago and picked out some of my favorite vessels for dessert entertaining.  We trekked around New York City…
