Airplane Guest Dessert Feature

Wow, there have been some great features up today, right?  This kid-friendly dessert feature from Jordan of Polka Dot Prints in Australia is another adorable take on a fly away party.  Jordan said she was inspired by my own son’s birthday party here.  I adore the white chocolate cloud “fly” lollipop sticks, the airplane cake {notice – simple waffle cones and m & m’s are used to decorate the cake}, the milk cartons, and the airplane painting.  The grass floor is also a nice touch.

A few sweet styling and practical tricks:

(1) Make use of lollipop sticks.  For the first several dessert tables I ever created, I placed chocolate lollipops and cookies in decorated boxes like Jordan did here.  I did it so many times that my friends expected them at any party I created.  It is easy to do {simply decorate styrofoam boxes or oasis and stick your chocolate pops and cookie pops in boxes with skewers}.  Kids and adults love them because they are easy to carry around.

(2) Be careful with dark colored food!  It’s always important to think of your guests’ teeth.  We had an event this past weekend and blue was a big color in the palette.  We all tested every dessert {poor us!} to make sure that there wasn’t any blue residue left on teeth.  You do want your guests looking pretty throughout the event!  I’m curious Jordan…did your blue treats turn out okay with this?  I’d be a bit worried with the blue jelly bars and trifle.  How did it turn out?

Jordan – you rocked this party and I look forward to seeing more from you!  Okay, one more feature left for today.  I hope you’re all enjoying the marathon!

I wish I would have seen this a month ago…my husband is a pilot and my son loves airplanes. He turned 2 at the beginning of August…I’ll remember it for his 3rd bday. Super cute guest posts today!

  • I have to agree with Courtney.
I am not even sure how I am handling all these amazing party posts today.

  • Love the cloud details!

  • Thanks for featuring Levi’s party, Amy! What a great way to start my day!
The blue was fine with non-staining. The only thing that was a little bit of a problem was the blue icing on the cake…but by that time, everyone was kind of full anyway!! 🙂
    Thanks again for sharing xo

How adorable! Amy, somehow I think that for a 2 year old the blue-er the teeth, the better!

Love it! Could you please tell me what you used as a back drop? Is it wallpaper? It looks awesome!

  • Fabulous party! Hoorah Jordan!

I think for a kids party the dye issue is less of a concern. For kids, a funny colored mouth can be half the fun. Obviously, for adults, no one wants dyed teeth.
